Fees and Financial Aid

The fee is not so high. the fee is 5000rs. If you are having an income certificate or a ration card, you can avail the free addmission scheme. This college is under Assam University, Silchar(AUS). Students have to take addmission in a Bachelor's course by merit based through their senior secondary marks.

Faculty

You just need to pass in senior secondary examination to admit in the college. Also you have to seat in the CUET exam. In this institution the exams are not so tough. My interaction to the faculty is very bad. As faculties also didn't notice you.

Course Curriculum Overview

So my course is physics honours I opted for this course because we have labs in which what we learn in theory classes we can do experiment and observe it in real life which is the best thing about my course Since course is physics honours if you want to go in research field you have different opportunity for it And if you do master in physics you can easily get a job in that specific area There is no need to change the curriculum We have semester exam once in every semester and that is not so tough. You can say it moderate

Fees and Financial Aid

For every year i have to pay 20745 Means for 3 year i have to pay a total amount of 62235 And this is final figure and fixed (not increasing) Hence i will complete my course in ?62235 with no other charges. And fees for all categories is same in same course And some fee range for other courses other than mine from ?15000 to ?22000 There is no concession on fee on basis of category My college has different type of scholarship named as financial help and various other some are on the basis of merit in 2nd and 3rd year.

Faculty

As I have mentioned earlier teacher here are very responsive and helpful They help everytime when we approach them they play key role in our lives and they understand this help us with their utmost efforts. Well I can't name the faculty but she our electricity and magnetism teacher and she is very good teacher she care for students and teaches really well and took tests on time and assignment on time and help us with our doubts.there are hardly any faculty which I dislike but there is one who is our lab assistant he knows nothing,he is arrogant, repress us and don't let us do our work properly and he screams at us while we are discussing about our experiments.there are three major exam in my course 4 additional like sec vac ge etc. Most of the students pass these examination but 2 -3 students who didn't attended class regularly are likely to fail.

Course Curriculum Overview

Well I have keen interest in physics since my childhood and being defence aspirant especially airforce, to help me in my future career options that's why I chose this course.Physics itself is language of realm and everything we see is science and it's application.I don't there need to be any improvement in current curriculum but it is good to have some engineering subject like electric circuit analysis in physics Hons. Well physics is difficult subject it requires hardwork , understanding of concepts, regular practice of numerical and good guidance the difficulty of exam is not any problem. We have our end sem exam after 5-6 months so there is not any problem with this and duration of exam is little short but it will help us for future competitive exams.

Faculty

I do not know much about faculties as this is only my 1st year and I had just completed my 1st sem. But still I got to know about Sanskrit faculty which holds many subjects like fit india, yoga etc. which I like most. Other than this, as I am from physics branch, I got to know about this faculty also and I like this too but there are some teachers in this faculty especially in labs which I disliked the most as they do not help the students in lab work and they are in the college only for that work. But still some teachers are there who helped me a lot in my projects.

Campus Life

I got many facilities in my all classes like each class has a screen board and projector. Any teacher can teach us with there laptops. Sometimes they saw us the videos from which we can understand faster. There are various no. of sports that our college provide like vollyball, tennis, cricket, football, chess, table tennis etc. also each Saturday there's a inter college cricket game held in our college and we can see them playing.

In our college lot of fests happens. With great artists and performances. The overall crowd is good but with some exceptions. We have our cultural fests , departmental fests and society fests. The college libray will offer variety of books of arts, science, self help books and lot more. There are three reading rooms in the college. There are ac's in the classes and labs but exceptions are there. Along with that there is projector in every class. There are sports teams like cricket football basketball badminton table tennis hockey boxing. To be a part oxf college team you have to clear their trials first.

Course Curriculum Overview

I am pursuing physics honours. I have choosed these course because physics is my favorite subjet and it seems interesting to me as there are lot more real life implementations of physics. Also there are lot more job options later like you can go for masters degree professor or teacher in a school you ca do your own research. There will be internal exams and external exams and the gap between them will be one and half months which is easily manageable .

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure obviously depends on the Subject you choose, but speaking for my subject, it is low, compared to other colleges. Yearly, I pay a tution fee of Rs. 18000, including the lab fees and the admission fees is same for all, which is Rs. 3500. Tution fees goes upto 24000 per year, starting from 18000. So the total course fees comes under Rs. 96000. Students under authentic caste catagories enjoy concession. Scholarships are available such as Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, offering upto Rs. 18000 per year. Since I don't qualify the financial requirements, so i don't enjoy scholarship.

Placement Experience

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.

Course Curriculum Overview

The teachers and the curriculum is top notched, the field trips are what made me convinced for this course. Although the curriculum is decent they could include some extra curriculars in the schedule, that would be great. The exams are not that difficult, you have to give minors i.e. mid sem exams and then end sem exams. Mid sem are of 1 hour and end sem are of 2.5 hours.

Campus Life

There are a no. Of clubs and other things like NCC and NSS etc. The sports also have ahuge impact on the kids here, a no. Of groups and clubs are also run by students . The library is accessible for everyone and almoat contains all the books related to the courses offered.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for every courses has to be paid every year which included 2 semesters . The fees depends on courses to courses . The fee for science course is more than Commerce and arts . I m pursuing bsc hons and fees for this course is around 17000 for obc category . Fees also depends on category Wise , the Sc and St student's have less fees than general ones . This fees includes all the tuition fee lab fee and admission fees. Extra fees have to be paid for end semesters exams which costs around 2900 to 3000 course wise.

Faculty

The faculty are good in nature wise they always helps whenever a student has a doubt they talked to them nicley . The lab stafs are also sweet and helpful they always help if the teacher is not present in the lab. The faculty of physics department are very good . There are total 3 main core exams and 3 extra subjects. The main 3 exams are bit tough because the course is physics. 60 to 70% students are able to pass the exams without failing . Some exams are quit easy and some are tough

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm cbcs system. Our college has total of 6 semesters ,i.e 3 years for graduation, each year has two semesters. And admission is taken from your 12th percentage and cuet ug score. There are 17 departments in our college. The selection for students, students atleast have to score 55% or more in 12th class and the more they score in cuet, the more the chances to be selected. After you get selected, you have to take admission,in Arts department the admission fees is around 4500 and in science departments the fee is little higher like 5000 due to lab charges. And in beginning of every year 1st, 2nd and 3rd (1st sem,3rd sem and 4?5th sem)you have to pay this admission. And for scholarship, there are too options one is umbrella schorlarship which you can apply in every year and you'll get approx 19k at the end of the year and the other is you have to apply in beginning in of year and get 16k at the end of the year. But you have to apply any one of them. Both can't be applied. Our college is a government college,so it's very affordable for middle class and below middle class family.

Course Curriculum Overview

I was a science student after all. So i decided to caryy my science background in college and the best college for physics or any science course if our college dngc. Our faculties are all phd holder's and our college have best computer labs and lab for instrumental measurement and chemical laboratory. Best in whole Arunachal Pradesh. Ques. How is the integrated MSc in physics at NIT Rourkela?

● Top Answer By Sriparna Banerjee on 14 Aug 23

Ans. I am well aware of the situation of NIT Rourkela Integrated MSc in Physics since my sister is a student there. She shared her horrible experience and does not recommend it to anyone at all. The faculty pool comprises underqualified professors with zero experience and will to reach. They are unapproachable and don’t pay heed to the students' doubts. The curriculum is very rigid and students are offered no flexibility in choosing their electives. Rather they are forced to choose subjects that are only relevant to experimental physics. Students are required to get the signature of the Faculty Advisor, HOD, Asst. Registrar, and Dean even for the smallest official work.  The place limits your talents and ambitions so much that all your dreams and talents will be crushed. My sister regrets wasting 5 precious years on this course and advises everyone to refrain from joining it.Read more

Ques. Is MSc photonics in cusat a good course? What about the placements?

● Top Answer By Sarvesh on 12 Feb 21

Ans. Photonics is one of the high-tech subjects that is evolved hugely in the last 20 years. It has applications in the areas of communications, computing, medicine, industry, defense, and entertainment. Having my friends from CUSAT enables me to provide you some valuable insights into the course. MSc Photonics in CUSAT is a good course to do. It is emerging fastly as mentioned before and has a huge potential.  Integrated Course: One of the big advantages of choosing Photonics in CUSAT is that it is a 5-year integrated program compared to other institutes. This helps in dive deeper into the field of Photonics.  Interesting Electives: Another highlight of the program is the choice of electives they provide with the course.  Research Orientation: Students are subjected to a research atmosphere right from the start through the mini projects in the first and second semesters.  Good for Competitive Exams: The course is more inclined towards photonics and includes some important and interesting subjects like nuclear physics, etc. Having exposure to these subjects will help a lot while preparing for competitive exams. Course Fee & Faculties: The college has excellent facilities and experienced faculty to guide you. The course fee is also quite reasonable. Placements: When it comes to placements even though there are no direct campus placements many students are placed in many top companies like Varroc, HELLA, Valeo, Tech Mahindra, etc. Apart from the placements, many students opt for Ph.D. programs in many abroad institutes. In short MSc Photonics at CUSAT is a wonderful course and you can definitely choose the program if you are interested in it.Read more

Ques. How is the integrated physics MSC course at IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Shruti Gupta on 12 Apr 23

Ans. Academically, the MSc Physics course at IIT Roorkee is dynamic. Some of the courses have repeated topics but for someone who is really into physics, the curriculum definitely suits his taste.  The research work conducted by the professors covers vast topics like string theory, theoretical high energy physics, quantum optics, fiber optics and lasers, nuclear physics, astrophysics, nano-materials, and condensed matter.  The lab facilities of this department are very lucrative for working with quantum optics, low-temperature superconductivity, functional materials, and lasers. The overall program lays more emphasis on experimental physics. The research enthusiasts get excellent research work in top research institutes during their summer internships which will enhance their learning experience tenfold. Students also get to visit famous places in India, Germany, the US, Australia, etc. and also publish great works. Some of the most common places include IISc, Bangalore, BARC, PRL, TIFR, IUCAA, SINP, and IIT in India whereas CERN, and Max Planck Institutes in Germany, Wisconsin, and Georgetown in the US amongst others.  Many consider the department a bit laid back with a less structured curriculum. However, real enthusiasts have been able to convert this weakness into strength by not solely relying on the curriculum but exploring much more. The Physics Journal Club and the number of papers published by students in PRD, PRL, MNRAS, CjP, etc. are a testament to that. Despite very less scope in India, IIT Roorkee has been able to carry Physics to a great extent. The program needs a little revision, only the ones who are truly Physics lovers can pursue this course.Read more

Ques. How is Fergusson College Pune for BSc in physics?

● Top Answer By Riya Sodhi on 28 Sept 21

Ans. If physics is your passion, and you genuinely want to learn, this is not the place for you. One of my friends studied here and these are some things he mentioned. The faculty is good but they have limited course material. You would not feel like you have learned much.  Most students take up physics in their final years because they know they can easily memorize the course material and pass. This is just so that they can improve their grades.  Mugging up theories is definitely not how someone can learn science.  They don’t have a real interest in the subject anyway and they would be your peers. The system at Fergusson is not great and you wouldn’t want to attend classes as it would not matter and you will pass your exams regardless. If you are only looking for a college life minus the studies and want to have some fun with fests and events, by all means, join Fergusson because marks and knowledge are secondary here.Read more

Ques. Why choose Calcutta University for a B-Sc. in physics?

● Top Answer By Saunak Gupta on 10 Dec 20

Ans. If one has the option to secure admission into Calcutta University for B.Sc in Physics they should immediately apply for it.  As compared to other universities that are based on research institutes and teaching is secondary to them, Calcutta university is different as they put emphasis on education and keep it a top priority.  It is one of the oldest universities and has matured with time. They have the best physics teachers and labs that are available in India. The course curriculum set by the college is tough and the marking pattern set by the faculty makes it difficult to score the marks making it stringent. But this is the best thing about the University as it prepares the student for further studies and makes them well aware of the competition. More information about the college is given below in a tabular form to make things clearer and understandable as to why choose Calcutta University for B-Sc physics. Particulars Calcutta University Accredited NAAC ‘A++’ Fees 74,000 Placement Package 5 LPA Top Recruiters Google, British Council, Godrej, Tata, and Infosys The college stamp on the certificate also plays an important role in the future, therefore, if one has the opportunity to take admission to Calcutta University they should definitely join the college.Read more

Ques. Which option is better, IIT Roorkee for geological technology or IIT Kharagpur for applied geology and exploration geophysics?

● Top Answer By Anumita Chatterjee on 23 Mar 23

Ans. There are many reasons why I will suggest you to go for IIT Kharagpur for applied geology and exploration geophysics. Some of these reasons include, Being an older IIT, IIT KGP has a much broader alumni base than Roorkee which in turn proves to be useful for higher education.  In case you lose interest in Core geology you are always open to sitting for non-core placements which are in abundance at IIT KGP because of the alumni network. The curriculum at IIT KGP is way better than Roorkee in the sense that it is rigorous and much more industry relevant than Roorkee. IIT KGP has good administrative support and one can get funded for conferences. Being an MSc course, you can avail INSPIRE Scholarship given that you have a good GPA. These points are more than enough of a deciding factor for you.Read more

Ques. Is Ramjas College better than ARSD College for pursuing a B.Sc in Physics hons general category?

● Top Answer By Arvind Sharma on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Ramjas is one of the best Science colleges in the country. Being a North campus it has its own benefits. A lot of events take place within the north campus which you will be aware of or be a part of if you take admission in any north campus college. Ramjas in terms of reputation, crowd quality, and exposure is much better than ARSD. It has got an incredible faculty and equally great infrastructure. It is one of the oldest colleges under DU hence has a lot of academic experience. If you seek a fulfilling college life, giving attention to both academics and extracurricular activities, Ramjas is the place for you. There are a lot of societies and clubs in Ramjas, students get enough exposure to explore their skills and talents and enhance them. They are lenient with attendance and also lets students submit an ECA for serious reasons. It will give a proper balance between academics and extracurriculars, here you get to focus on both of them equally. For Physics Honours Ramjas will be the perfect choice.Read more

Ques. Which of these is better in IIT Kanpur: BSC in Chemistry/Physics, Earth Science, Biological Science or Engineering?

● Top Answer By Vidhita Kapoor on 24 Apr 23

Ans. It depends on what you are interested in and what career you want to pursue. My personal suggestion would be to make IIT Delhi your first preference. First, if you are a civil services aspirant, get admission into IIT Delhi in any branch and prepare for UPSC through the various coaching institutes available. If you are somehow not able to make it into IIT Delhi, then invest another year preparing for JEE and aim for a higher rank. Once you are able to make it into IIT Kanpur, again you need to work hard for one year to get a branch change into Civil. You will be competing with geniuses from CS and ME but keep yourself motivated. A CPI of 7+ will make it possible to get a branch change. Attend your classes regularly, complete your assignments on time and you are good to go. Lastly, if you are unable to change your branch, go for pure sciences like Physics, Chemistry, BSBE, or Earth Science. Out of these Physics and chemistry have a heavy workload and it will be tough to cope with your batchmates. BSBE has pathetic placements. Another option is Earth Sciences which in my opinion is the best considering the light workload and job opportunities. The average CPI is lesser than other branches and most of its courses overlap with Civil Engineering. Basically, Earth Sciences is equivalent to Civil Engineering just without the Engineering element.Read more
