Course Curriculum Overview

5

Physics is a fundamental subject of science and I liked astrophysics from childhood, so I took this course. Well in the curriculum they prepares so we can pursue higher studies, teachers helps us to understand the subject and helps us to prepare for competitive exams. Teachers took class test every month and there is midsem and endsem exams. I think the frequency of exams is perfect, the questions are a bit tough but manageable.

Internships Opportunities

4

In our college internship is compulsory from 2nd year, the teachers also helps us to get a internship. I'm only in 2nd year so I don't have much knowledge about internships yet but one can do internships from famous institutes or from companies according to their choice.

Placement Experience

4

Students from the final years only get a chance to get placement from campus. For batch 2022-2024 last year average package was 8 LPA and highest 12 LPA. A vast amount of 67% students got placed in last year from campus placements. I'm actually planning to do higher studies after the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Every year we've to pay roughly about ?60,000. We've to pay this in 4 installment, roughly ?15,000 in every 4 month. In every installment there is ?1,500 tution fees, ?4,800 development fees and ?4,800 additional fee compulsory. But in some installments there is additional lab fees of ?1,700 and exam fees of ?2000. And if we fail to pay the fees in time college charges ?300 fine per month. Also when I first took admission I paid ?40,000 total as first installment and then the rest 3 installments were as usual. And college provides scholarships but I don't have much idea about this.

Campus Life

4

College has a lots of different societies, so events happening almost every month. The annual fest normally happens in January, it's called Xavotsav. And there is other events also. There is a vast collection of books in the library, and we can access almost every single one, also we can borrow it for 2 weeks. Teachers uses projectors for teaching. There is a lots of societies so we can do a lot of extracurricular activities according to our choice. College has a indoor gaming room and also provides us sports equipment for playing. And if you are a sports person you are well appreciated.

Admission

I actually only applied for my college only cause they were talking direct admission based on 12th and 10th result, other colleges were talking admission tests. So I preferred to choose this college. Actually I got less marks than I needed in JEE for good colleges, I got a college but it's not that good. So I chose this course and college cause it's well reputed and provides placement. College takes direct admission in the basis of 12th and 10th board results, but the cut of is too high and not only that, to get admission in your desired course you have to have good marks in other subjects also.

Faculty

4

In our department there are 15 teachers and 39 total students. The teachers are so friendly and approachable. There is one mid semester and one end semester exam in every semester. Questions are not too much tough, problems are doable if you study. Approx 2-3 students fail in every semester but they fail only in one or two subjects. For me every faculty is good at their field of expertise, they all are experienced and teachers us quite well.

Interview Experience

5

No I didn't face any group discussion or test for the admission. They selected us on the basis of our 10th and 12th board results. But the cut of was too high.. like 95% . And also too choose your major subject, they looked for other subjects marks also and then they selected. They only asked a few questions in the day of physical verification, but it was so easy, no preparation was needed for answering.

Night Life

4

Our college has a perfect location in the middle of Kolkata, so the night life is quite enjoyable. There are a lot of cafeterias nearby. Library closes at 8:00. The rules are very strict in hostel. You've to come back before 6:00 and if you want to go outside after 6:00 you need permission letter. They've fixed timings for food also. But hostel has gaming rooms and gym. So one can enjoy also there.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
