Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course because I have to prepare for competitive exams or there are many teachers available in the university or I have to study a lot and understand the exams too. Exams and midterms are also held on time and teachers understand so well, then there are not so many problems in exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are low and scholarship is also available. Scholarships are double the fee or more. Apart from this, there is a housing scheme for the students who come from outside or live in the room, which helps the children a lot or does not cause much problem.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because the combination of the subjects were my favourite subject and my honours subject is political science as I wanted from the beginning. The student and the faculty both are supportive. All the faculty are well trained and qualified NET examination for teaching us and had a great knowledge in their own subjects. Their teaching method is so smooth and understandable. Also they give us advices and support us i our personal problems. Due to covid period the semester exams were not conducted on time, they were conducted late. And the marks we get is average,we cannot remark it as very good marking because sometimes the without checking the paper they allot the marks and in the subjects which we have performed excellent, we get average marks. I appreciate everything about my college except the copy checking and our marks allotment.

Campus Life

The annual fees which we have to submit is Rs.9200 which is for the students who haven't any practical subject and the students having practical subject have to pay more than us for it. Apart from this course I'm also persuing for another course in the same premises which is diploma course in mass communication which is also very useful for skills development and future of mass communication. In our library almost all kinds of books related to our syllabus are available with the unlimited wifi service. The Amenities in our classroom contains desk, tables, chairs, a whiteboard or projector for presentations, power outlets for electronic devices etc. Their are many social groups by the students of our college which contain student unity, mahila sashaktikaran and etc

Every year in the month of November we have a college fest named YUVAFLARE and we enjoy it like anything. We've cultural programs frequently and every single important day is celebrated. We'd a large and peaceful library where one can find monthly magazines, daily newspapers, journals and important historical works. We've nearly about 30 sports, both indoor and outdoor games. We have a club for every subject and other clubs for sports, discipline, cleanliness etc. Students also run an FAA(Francis Alumnae Association).

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose BA HPP (history, political science and public administration). We had an interesting and knowledgeable curriculum with all essential matters in every subject. The interaction between students and faculty is awesome and their support made all our success. Each of the faculty members had their PhD in their respective subjects. Every year we had 2 term-end exams and they were a bit hard to pass.

St. Francis is known for its fests. Every college waits for Francis to open their gates for competitions and programs. People are friendly and clubs provided the greatest experience of an undergraduate. Many books are available in the library.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are available, but fees in the final year will increase. You have to pay and apply for a placement cell. They will provide Campus Recruitment Training as well. St. Francis is a great advantage and has a really good campus life.

The best part about St.Francis is the number of events and the student engagement that happens on campus. There are lots of clubs pertaining to each department. Every department also has sub clubs. For example, the Arts department has an Xpressions club which further has FIRE which is the economics club. All the clubs hosts a wide range of events starting from quizzes to mock assemblies. Fests happen almost every month with students from acroas the city participating in them. There ar various social groups as well which look into student welfare. The website for the college is very user friendly and helpful to navigate any aspect of how the college functions. The infrastructure in the class is also good. NSS, NCC and Sports are the extra curriculars offered from the college which is also added as a credit for each semester.

Course Curriculum Overview

I took up BA Economics Political Science and Public Administration because I wanted to see myself as a public service employee. The course curriculum is designed in a comprehensive manner to get an insight into every aspect of the course. The faculty is highly qualified and the teaching methods are very effective. The faculty is always ready to provide reading materials and extra information for any topic a student needs or any guidance in general. The faculty is highly qualified with most of them being PhD holders. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester and are usually very easy to pass as long as there is good attendance for the students. The teaching methods enable a student to easily pass the exam.

Campus Life

College makes it necessary for the students to choose between sports, NCC, and NSS. I had chosen for sports and it was compulsory to complete 30hrs which isn't easy as lecturers take most of the free hours and we're not left with time to go play. Even after college there's be something happening in the sports stadium so you'd not be permitted in. The college has its own team too. The library has a good collection of books be it studies-related or otherwise. That doesn't mean that it shouldn't get even better. College does give a wide range of clubs. You get into any clubs but make sure you participate in the club's events because that way you get a lot of exposure.

Course Curriculum Overview

I've been interested in mass comm for a long hence opted for the same and when it came to literature and political science I was all the happier. Political science has got legit faculty, their knowledge of the subject is something noteworthy. Literature has 3 lecturers be it whichever year you are in. Literature requires better faculty. Mass comm has okayish faculty. Not that great. We've not been lucky to explore various things in the world of mass comm due to the pandemic.

The campus has excellent infrastructure,we have an extensive library and all the books required for the course are available. Every department has its club and it's mandatory to conduct activities in form of games/guests lectures. Every club has an annual event open to all students of the college - sometimes national-level inter-college fests. We have digital classrooms, an indoor stadium, volleyball ground and there is lots of greenery around the campus.

These clubs enhance the skills of the students in that particular field. The college library has books of all kinds. It is vast. The classrooms have projectors and a computer.

Placement Experience

Students are eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. Many companies come for placements like - google, radio FM, Deloitte, amazon. etc. I am a second-year student so I do not know much about the packages offered. Fee Structure And Facilities

There are opportunities of student exchange programs in various foreign institutes at UK, France, Australia etc. Scholarships and financial assistance are also provided to students belonging to economically weaker sections. The college does not offer much of placements at the end of 3 year ug programme because majority of students prefer higher studies.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course and curriculum is designed in a thoughtful and flexible manner. There are topics which can be added on the suggestions of students ; something which is not very common in conventional Indian education pattern. The faculty members are well trained and immensely knowledgeable apart from being friendly and approachable.

St. Francis is famous for its cultural fest called YUVAFLARE. And almost every day we see one or other cultural programs going on. The library will be very huge and has almost every topic of books. The classrooms are always peaceful and quite comfortable. There will be a lot of scope for participation in sports in this college. Every subject has its own club(clubs like rhetorical, quest hour)and different streams also have different clubs and students take pride for their works in the clubs and they do conduct their own fests.

Course Curriculum Overview

My love for history made me choose this course. The seats are less for quality of educational purpose, there will be more than 1 or 2 lecturers in each minor major subjects. Most faculty are all doctorates or pursuing the PhD, the methods are very professional for career development. The mids for every sem were totally conducted by the college, and they are tougher than the end semester, college is strict when it comes to exams.

Course Curriculum Overview

As this campus is for social workers mainly, students are trained for that purpose.Students learnt through experiences by fieldwork, field visit which we called experiential learning which the students experienced not only in theory but practically. Social workers need to deal with the grassroots level, which is the main theme for this campus.Students are taught by the lecturers/professors through slides and presentations, given assignments, book reviews, article reviews or summary.TISS is connected with many reputed companies and organisations. So, there's a campus recruitment on the last semester of Post Graduate. The placement here is good

Campus Life

The gender ratios is around 1:1 of boys and girls. People from all over the country come together, from Kerela to Jammu and Kashmir, and from North East India to Gujarat. Extracurricular activities are done always. Dancing, football, cricket, debates, discussion, and skip a meal for the needy person. There's a jam session once in a semester. In that night, it is a party and we dance together. There's no discrimination based on race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation in this campus. Everybody is treated equally by each other.

Remarks

This programme I am enrolled provides an wide array of subjects ranging from basic maths, statistics, hindi/Assamese (option is provided between the local language and hindi) and all disciplines that come under social science. Tata Institute of Social Science is one of the premiere social science institute in India with renowned faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview

TISS has a great selection of syllabus which is updated frequently. The subjects are relevant to today's environment, although there is no subject of geography even though it comes under social sciences. The faculty is friendly and helpful but the administration overall is not up to the level.

Admission

When the notification issued, I filled a form online that was available at the university website and it cost me 1000 at that time being the application fee that has to be deposited with gndu's bank account. Later on the basis of our form, specifically based on our senior secondary marks and matriculation marks, a merit list was issued. The date for the counselling was given and ranks were issued.

Exam Structure

There is 'Major and Minor' examination system followed in the University. We have semester exam count for marks called as Majors and two minor exams of 1-hour duration in between the semester exam counts for 20 marks each. And Term paper activity is 10 marks, collectively 100 marks for each subject. It is a hectic examination system and student hardly finds time for extracurricular activities.

● Top Answer By Sayanti Shome, on 11 Nov 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). According to him, BA social science entrance exam demands you to be knowledgeable in the field of humanities.  All you have to do is cover the current affairs section very well and along with that keep an eye on the previous year's questions. Some questions include topics on psychology or philosophy. For this, you don't have to go through the topics elaborately. You can solve previous year's questions to get a general idea. These are a must to pass BHU BA Social Science entrance examination.  For current affairs, you can keep yourself updated by reading newspapers and magazines. This will improve your vocabulary and writing ability. Knowing history will also be helpful. So prepare accordingly.Read more

Ques. What is DUs syllabus for BA Humanities and Social Science Admission test?

● Top Answer By Sneha Paul Sam on 12 Oct 22

Ans. To begin, one must mentally prepare to continue reading newspapers every day and attempting to comprehend editorial opinions and social issues. It would be beneficial to read some philosophy books based on your own understanding, thereby increasing your ability to think about society in terms of how well-educated people perceive women, girls, and people's difficulties. A good understanding of General Studies and your 12th-class texts from the Arts field is required.  The entrance exam is not based on math, reasoning, or English; rather, it is based on your social background, as well as your opinion and mindset. This entrance has only 20 or 30 seats. So be cautious, and good planning will ensure your success.Read more
