Remarks

Since going to another city for higher studies was out of the question I had resorted stay in hyd and applied for admission into Francis, it wasn't tough for me to make it in as I had 92.5% in my 12th in SSC board. I had the required marks for my course which is mass communication. In Francis, Masscomm comes as a combination course and not Honours. I've taken Mass communication, Literature, and Political Science.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I've been interested in mass comm for a long hence opted for the same and when it came to literature and political science I was all the happier. Political science has got legit faculty, their knowledge of the subject is something noteworthy. Literature has 3 lecturers be it whichever year you are in. Literature requires better faculty. Mass comm has okayish faculty. Not that great. We've not been lucky to explore various things in the world of mass comm due to the pandemic.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Following the pandemic, we've not done any internships through college. Companies like Amazon come with internships. Roles like customer care would be what you'd begin with. Teachers suggested we to do internships in the final year so that we have a better idea of what to do so we are only yet to do any internships.

Placement Experience

3.5

College provides placements. I'm just getting into my final year and it's in our final year that we have a placement team coming to our college. I can't say much of it, but I've heard many say that not everybody gets placed in fact very few make it into a company. One has to be really smart as it is very competitive.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has reasonable fees. There's about a 10% hike every year. Following the pandemic, they've not gone for fee hikes and have been taking the same amount every year. We've to pay 50,000 P.A. I've not much idea of scholarships. There are many students in my college who aren't financially sound, and college does help them.

Campus Life

3.5

College makes it necessary for the students to choose between sports, NCC, and NSS. I had chosen for sports and it was compulsory to complete 30hrs which isn't easy as lecturers take most of the free hours and we're not left with time to go play. Even after college there's be something happening in the sports stadium so you'd not be permitted in. The college has its own team too. The library has a good collection of books be it studies-related or otherwise. That doesn't mean that it shouldn't get even better. College does give a wide range of clubs. You get into any clubs but make sure you participate in the club's events because that way you get a lot of exposure.

From the last semester which is the 6th sem, the students are allowed to go for placements. The companies that visited included Deloitte and other companies as such. that visit the college. And the highest package was around 5 lakh per annum. The placements were in full go only for courses like BCOM or BSC Computures, there were no placement opportunities for the course of B.A. There did not take any recruitment take place as such for our course. The percentage of students getting places was very low. The average package was 1 to 2 lakh per annum.
