20 Jun, 2025 IIRF Overall Ranking 2025 has been released for the Top Government Universities. EFLU Hyderabad has been ranked 30 out of 50 univerities in India.

26 May, 2025 EFLU Hyderabad has released the Fee Structure 2025-26. The academic fee for PG is ₹ 6,700 -₹ 12,065 .

English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, formerly known as Central Institute of English was established in 1958. The aim of EFLU was to impart quality training for teachers in English which further introduced additional foreign languages such as Arabic, French, German, Japanese, etc. and was hence renamed as Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972. English and Foreign Languages University is accredited by NAAC with an A Grade. The University was ranked in the 151-200 rank band of University category as per NIRF 2023 rankings. EFLU Admissions

EFLU offers UG, PG and Doctoral courses in Arts. Admissions to UG programs are based on the scores of the CUET UG exam conducted by NTA. UG Admissions at EFL University is based on the CUET PG exam scores. Admissions to the PhD program is based on the scores of entrance exam and Interview conducted by the University. The stepwise application process for admissions to English and Foreign languages University has been mentioned below:

Application Process

Candidates should first make sure that they have cleared the entrance test and attained required scores to be eligible to apply. They may then follow these steps to complete the application process.

Visit the official website: efluniversity.ac.in.
Complete the form, add the necessary scanned documents, pay the application fee, and submit the application.
Admissions coordinators will examine the application and supporting documentation.
The program admission coordinators will narrow the applicant pool based on eligibility requirements. The admission coordinators will contact shortlisted applicants by mail or phone, and a preliminary list of chosen applicants will be provided online.
The program's annual fee is determined, and a link to pay the price is included on the admissions site. (The University sends the same information to Aspirants via SMS.) Candidates shall pay their fees before the latest day mentioned.
As soon as all online fee payments have been duly confirmed, students will receive an SMS confirming their provisional enrolment.

EFLU Scholarship

The University offers a Scholarship to PG students who hold excellent academic records and are from a weak economic background. This scholarship is known as Indira Single Girl Child Scholarship for PG Students. Following are the details of the English and Foreign Language University Scholarship:

Indira Single Girl Child Scholarship

It is a UGC scholarship scheme initiated with the objective to empower the girls of our country through the means of education. The government introduced Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship to compensate for the direct cost of girl education while pursuing higher education. This scholarship is for those girls who are the only child of their parents.

Scholarship Amount:

INR 36,200 per annum for a period of 2 years.

Eligibility:

Girl Students must be pursuing a PG course from the University.
She should be the only child of her parents.
Candidates must not be more than 30 years of age at the time of admission into the PG program.
Candidates admitted to the PG course through distance education mode are not eligible for this scholarship.
Also, there are no income criteria for students to be eligible for this scholarship.

Documents Needed to Apply for Scholarship

Applicant’s passport-size photograph
Self-attested copy of previous academic mark sheets
Fee receipt of the current course year.

How to Avail?

Visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Register with NSP by providing all necessary details.
A student application ID and password are generated on the registered mobile number.
log in to NSP using the newly generated ID and password. An OTP is sent on the registered mobile number using which the candidates must change their password, which is a mandatory step.
Once the password is changed, the candidates are directed to the Applicant’s Dashboard Page,
Click on the ‘Application form’ to start the application process.
Applicants need to provide all the necessary details such as registration details, academic details, basic details, contact details, and scheme details.
All the required documents in support of identity and academic eligibility must be uploaded by the applicants.
Now, the filled-in application form must be saved as a draft so that the applicant can check every detail once again to make sure they are correct.
Finally, the candidate must click on the ‘Submit’ button to submit the completed scholarship application form.

EFLU Fellowships

The English and Foreign Languages University offers Fellowships to students who are pursuing a Doctoral program. Following are the details of English and Foreign Languages University fellowships:

UGC Junior Research Fellowships

For candidates who have qualified at the national level test conducted by the UGC. INR.16000/- per month and a contingency grant of INR 10,000/- per year. HRA as per University rules, if living outside the campus.

Senior Research Fellowships

Candidates who have been awarded UGC Junior Research fellowship for two years may be considered for the award of UGC Senior Research fellowships after a review. INR 18000/- per month and a Contingency Grant of INR. 20,500/- per year.

UGC Non-NET Fellowships

All research participants who are not in receipt of any other fellowship/scholarship will be given fellowships as follows: Ph.D. INR 5000/-month for 3 years, extendable by one year. Contingency Grant INR 8000/- per annum

The camp is very tight knit which makes everything accessible anytime
There is enough space for studying like the Study rooms which are open 24/7
The library has an extensive list of books

Dislikes

Despite being easy to go around, the campus is very small and congested
The mess food can definitely improve even with the nominal fees we pay
Basic hygiene in hostels need so much improved

The curriculum of the English and Foreign Languages University is set in such a way that students focus on the major they choose and not be swayed by the interest of other subjects which helps a srud development better skills in the subject than other students of other universities.

Academic fees of the course per year and hostel fees per month

The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad is a very budget friendly institution to study in. Category fees for the first year is 2900/- and just a few hundreds more for genreal category. As such, hostel fees are also very less with room rent being 75/- per month (with the exception for International Students)

Events, clubs and facilities available in the campus

The campus, though small and congested, offers space for many activities. Festivals are celebrated with much jovial moods and also literally festivals held by different departments are most looked forward to. The library has an extensive list of books to read and study from which makes getting materials easy. Classroom setting is very good. There are many tournaments that happen every semester like cricket, football, basketball etc. The campus also has many clubs like the poetry , reading, film screening clubs amd many other

Facilities provided in the college hostel

The rooms are shared except for PhD scholars who get single rooms. There is access to electricity and water 24/7. The meal quality needs improvement amd the hostel needs and overall improved in terms of hygiene. The hostel fee is paid at the time of admission and room rent is 75/- pm

Students view on faculties

The faculty of the English and Foreign Languages University are from different areas of what is thought to be the same subject but with different areas of specialization. Professor are easy to reach out to; does not mean the courses are not very easy.

Why students choose this college over any other college?

I chose the English and Foreign Languages University because of the comprehensive cheril it has for the program I chose. The admission process was very smooth and hassle free though it took a lot of time to get things done. We have to be in campus for physical verification after being selected. I applied to certain colleges in DU, but considering the fact that EFLU was more affordable and also had a more holistic approach, I decided to come here instead.

Night Life

Night life is very lively. Canteens are open till 11 and so is the other shops. Gyms are open for specific time slots in the afternoon and morning, mention be amde that international men, international women, men and women all have different gyms.

Admission:

As the name suggests, the EFL University focuses entirely on the study of English and foreign languages(asian, european, etc.), so my preference for this University is supported by the fact that the courses and syllabus of study allows me to conduct in-depth learning of whichever course I am admitted into (be it foreign language, literature, language teaching, Linguistics, etc). Sure, other colleges also have well established departments but I just feel like English learning is broader and more enjoyable at EFLU considering it’s prestige. Apart from EFLU, i applied to DU, NEHU, JNU, Pondicherry Uni, Mount Carmel, Madras University, Ambedkar University Delhi, and Loyola College, Chennai. Out of these i was short listed to Pondicherry University and DU. I had to write entrance exams/online interviews for Mount Carmel, Madras Uni and Loyola. However, I did not proceed with those interviews because EFLU amnounced their shortlisted candidates earlier on. Admission process: For admission, one must appear the CUET according to the requirements of the course you are interested to apply to. After which you apply through an online application posted in the university website with your CUET score. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of CUET score plus on merit basis. The cutoff score for General category might be around 250+ but it depends on that year’s general performance score. Minorities may get through with a score within 80-200.

Dislikes

The campus area is quite small i.e. 30 Acres.
The Library opens from 8:30 AM until 8:00 PM.

Admission:

I wanted to learn German language and for Foreign Languages, this University stands second after JNU. Besides this, this University is a Central University. I also had got German in JNU but my Seniors suggested to go for EFLU as it provides well surrounding for that.

Read before you Choose EFLU

Admission:

I applied for DU and BHU and I got selected there as well I just wanted to come here because this college is dedicated to languages. The admission process is followed by a counselling session here. This college is better from other colleges because it provides quality education for such a low price and accommodation and meal expenses are quite low.

The cafeteria, a stationary shop, a medical shop, a grocery shop , it has all of them. The library and the reading room which is open 24x7 is a definite plus point.
The campus has a lot a greenery and it also provide a indoor sports complex which is highly convenient on rainy days.it even has peacocks.as i have seen some.

Admission:

I got in thru cuet and category reservations. You can fill the cuet exams for English and general tests both are required to be eligible for language course in EFLU. The exams aren't that difficult if you have a basic grasp of English and a little general knowledge .

Likes

Being a central university, the fees is really affordable for the students coming from different classes. The hostel fee is also really less but the condition of hostel is really really good and well managed. The university mess provides good food.
The campus is really beautiful with all the facilities require for students like Sports Complex, Library, Health Center, Air Conditioned Readind Room, Canteen, with a departmental store and a medical store as well. There are many lawns and parks also

Dislikes

The locality is not really good, there's multiple cases of catcalling and stuff from local people
The campus is a bit small so you'll lack peaceful environment.

Admission:

The entrance exam for all the courses is CUET, and the cutoff is generally high as it's one of the finest and few Institutes in the country which provides foreign language education. Counselling process will be offline.

The eligibility of the course for Ug is 50% marks in 12 th exam.After 2023 you can apply through CUET. If you are sc/st/differently abled candidates your eligibility criteria for 12 th is 45%. Prepare for CUET exam before 3 or 4 month.

For admission to BA Spanish, you need to appear for CUET exam with 25 questions in General knowledge and 75 questions in Domain specific knowledge questions.
