My course wasnt my first choice at all. I was kinda pushed into that direction. But sociology/ anthropology department is the best department. Amazing teaching staff and with relevance to curriculum; very systematic and very thorough. Amazing job with reference to connect the portion with today's times. Teachers go out of their way to make the subject more engrossing and understanding.
The faculties across departments are able to help the students in every possible way. Students are able to create a special relationship with the teachers during their time at the college. The courses provided are well updated to the necessary standards.
The courses are updated every few years. The college has started with a feedback mechanism on the curriculum, which allows the faculties to decide if the curriculum and the way of teaching is up to the mark for the students.
The syllabus is pretty well structured and well designed. The execution of the same is also well accounted for. The style of teaching is what sets the bar higher and makes the college class It's amazing to be lerning from such experienced and diversified faculty.
The course is very well designed with equal distribution given to covering topics pertaining to what the current scenario demands. The faculties are very approachable and have good experience. However there is not much industrial exposure.
All the faculties were really good and the curriculum was pretty good too. Everything was balanced and we did have study trips in our junior college. Every single faculty was quite understanding about the condition and the situation of the students. The sociology department was really great.
For my course, the curriculum was quite amazing. Though vast at times, the faculty made it easier to learn with the help of media and other modes of learning. The class presentations also contributed in a way of simplifying the topics.
Yes our courses are really good. Since its an autonomous college we have our own books. The faculty helps you engage activities and makes you think broad. We get a lot of assignments which help to see the world critically and analyze it better
The course syllabus is a little beyond the capacities of an average student. We were provided with industrial exposures. The psychology, sociology and anthropology faculty was really approachable and good.
The curriculum is great, very updated. The facilities are top of the line, for example, we use Macs for learning the latest softwares prevalent in the Industry now. The campus is more than spacious enough, great food at the canteen for reasonable prices. The only thing holding back St. Xavier's University is the faculty, at least for Mass Comm dept is the faculty, a few Professors really makes you wonder how they landed this job. And the kind of students that apply to this university, for the most part they are utterly basic and uninspiring. But since the University is in it's infancy, just 4 years running I think, with time these two pitfalls would dilute. In about 10 years or so, if they up their entrance test difficulty a bit, it can emerge as one of the best Universities in West Bengal.
