Does NISER have a placement cell like engineering colleges?

NISER does not have a conventional placement cell like IITs or NITs since its primary focus is research and higher studies. However, there is a Career Development Cell that tries to direct students to research careers, fellowships, and scientific positions in organizations such as BARC, ISRO, DRDO, or analytics companies. Students who seek jobs generally use faculty referrals, internships, and competitive exam skills (e.g., GATE, CSIR-NET) to get employed in government laboratories or private research departments.

Are PhD students at NISER financially and career-wise assisted as well?

Yes, indeed. PhD students are given fellowships between INR 31,000 and INR 35,000/month, sponsored by CSIR, DST, or in-house projects. They travel to international conferences, partner with research labs overseas, and many pursue postdoctoral fellowships overseas. They are trained in teaching assistantships, grant writing, and publication of researchleaving them poised for careers in academia, national laboratories, or industry R&D.

Is there an alternative plan for those students who do not want to do research post-NISER?

Yes. Fees and Financial Aid:

Early I will be paying 20000 as tuition fee and 10000 as my hostel fee . Every student at NISER Bhubaneswar receive scholarship of 5000 per month from Department of atomic energy with annual grant of 20000 for research projects.

NISER a happy place for students

Fees and Financial Aid:

The tution fee for general and obc category is rupee 9800 par semester and for SC and ST it is around rupee 3000 per semester. Beside this there is some extra fee for cultural events and Puja festival etc. They give 5000 rupees per month through DISHA fellowship.

NISER: Apply if you're serious about scientific research and career

Dislikes

It's a science based course. If you change your mind later on to exit academia, it's hard to find other options

Fees and Financial Aid:

I have availed a scholarship facility called DISHA scholarship. It is funded by the department of atomic energy and all students of niser are eligible to get it provided they don't fail in any course, in which case scholarship is discontinued for a year. It provides a monthly scholarship of five thousand rupees.
