Remarks

Overall niser is a very good place to pursue education. The environment is very good as it is in the outskirts of the city, pollution is minimal, making the telescope viewing sessions very good. Only the alumni factor is negative about it as it was established very recently.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum is pretty good. In the first year we are introduced to all subjects in which we can get a major degree. After studying them for an year, we choose a subject and pursue for a major. Exam structure is continuous evaluation as quizzes are conducted every other week along with mid and end semester.

Placement Experience

4

Currently the institute is relatively new and doesn't have a fully functioning placement cell, though students are pursuing higher education like PhDs in various institutions across the country and abroad. Yes, niser provides a weekly stipend of five thousand for integrated MSc students.

College Events

4

We celebrate all major national holidays as there are people from all parts of the country in niser. People spread awareness about their regional celebrations and usually most of us join them. Other like freshers parties happen too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure, this being a government funded institute is very feasible. We are charged around 11k-12k for a semester of six months. This is a very cheap price compared to many other institutions of the same reputation.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have availed a scholarship facility called DISHA scholarship. It is funded by the department of atomic energy and all students of niser are eligible to get it provided they don't fail in any course, in which case scholarship is discontinued for a year. It provides a monthly scholarship of five thousand rupees.

Campus Life

4.5

All types of sporting event like cricket championship, football, badminton, chess, etc are conducted and students prepare for sports meet between science institutes. Being the only institute funded by DAE, the lab equipments are of best quality and labs are very well managed.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes, all students of niser are required to stay in hostels. As the buildings are new, about 3-4 years old, they are in very good conditions. Rooms are spacious are clean. A dedicated group of people clean all the corridors each day. Canteen is present inside the hostel providing good quality food at a very reasonable price.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is not very good as this institute was started very recently. Still the seniors and graduates who are pursuing higher studies are always ready to help in any way they can providing information about what to do.

Admission

I appeared NEST which is the qualifying exam for niser, cleared it, got admission after paying fees. Now this is a pretty clear description and I am writing this line just to get more words than the 200 words minimum limit.

Faculty

4

Most faculties, being graduates from reputed institutes in and outside the country are very well versed in the topic of their expertise, though some have trouble making students understand things that are obvious to them.
