Campus is far from main city so, there will be not much outside to explore
There is no placement cell till now, which is kind of bad thing but most student pursue PhD after this so it depends on you
The canteen food is neutral to poor, you will miss your home food
Course Curriculum Overview:
Course curriculum is very good at niser and are comparable to some foreign institutes.
There are world class facilities available for you and the labs are the main insights here.
But you have to be somewhat attentive regarding your exams as exams are easy to moderate level.
The best part of NISER Bhubaneswar is that the great research exposure for physical sciences. the students after graduating from here to get into ETH Zurich , max planck Institute and great foreign university. Areas of improvement can be taking help of technology for visualizing different real life applications of physical sciences. The examination se related Aaj modulated to talk under held once in 2 months.

Dislikes

Some hostel canteen has very terrible food quality.
Washing machine in hostel is always defective
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course curriculum are very good. I think NISER has best course curriculum than other msc university. They teach very good content and conceptual. Regular quizes and assignments are there. Exam pattern are also very effective
The campus is beautiful and serene, has an open meditation centre on a hilltop, it's the landmark. Infrastructure is state of art
Sports facilities have improved a lot, basketball and lawn tennis courts are available too
Professors are very educated and you'll get a lot of exposure through internships and seminars
Dislikes
It's a science based course. If you change your mind later on to exit academia, it's hard to find other options
Placement cell has just been setup, with companies like mpharma visiting, but ofc they prefer PhD candidates over MSc
Campus life is very good and interactive although campus being on the outskirts of bhubaneswar, citylife is less engaging
Course Curriculum Overview:
Exam pattern is semester wise, including midterms and endterms. Apart from that, regular and surprise quizzes take place. The curriculum is very comprehensive and interdisciplinary too. If you want to pursue science and academia ahead, this will be one of the best things that you could pursue.
I chose the Chemical sciences due the vast applications it has across all disciplines and day to day life and also due to the good research facilities in our department that allow for impactfull research. The faculty in our department are very well established in their fields and are quite successful researchers. they are friendly and approachable if you have doubts and issues that need clarification. the faculty student ratio is good considering each department takes only 55 students from each batch of BS-MS students.
The teaching method and style varies from teacher to teacher along with the grading pattern for exams. The term exams are mostly fine if you have understood and practised the topics covered in the classes but they are mostly based on understanding and problem solving type questions rather than memorisation based.
I chose the course because I was really interested in pursuing research as a career. Faculty: student ratio is satisfactory. The faculties are highly qualified and they were eminent researchers. They all have Ph.D. and post-doc degrees. Term exams are rigorously taken in a scheduled way.
Integrated MSc, dual degree MSc-PhD is available.
Faculties are scientists working in the lab and taking classes. There are a lot of quizzes and mid-semester and end-semester examinations.
In the first year, maths is tough for everyone.
We can get a job in BARC only by a job interview, and people can join ISRO and DRDO, but most of the Niserites focus on Ph.D. after their course as most of them want to pursue research as their main goal, otherwise, they can also join industrial jobs.
Students who have more than 7.5 CGPA in five years integrated M.Sc course, get a chance to attend interview at Bhaba Atomic Research Centre. Candidates of the institute get good salary according to their job roles. The highest CTC is paid for Ph.D students which is around Rs 4.5 LPA.
There is no placement cell in the institute. But the students who have more than 7.5 CGPA, get a chance to attend an interview for BARC. Ph.D students get Rs 4.38 lacs per annum. It is a government recognized research institute. So, it's students get placement in the popular research institutes in India.
