NISER Bhubaneswar has released the list of candidates shortlisted for Test/Interview for PhD admission 2024-25. The proposed date for test and interview for Biological Sciences is December 11-12, 2024 and for Chemical Sciences the date is December 16, 2024.
The written test/ interview is scheduled for December 5, 2024 for Earth & Planetary Sciences and the Physical Sciences test is scheduled for December 12-13, 2024.
The proposed date for offline interview for Computer Sciences is December 9-10, 2024.

School of Biological Sciences
- 55% marks in M.Sc or equivalent qualifying examination and 75% in case of 4-year degree
- CSIR-UGC-NET JRF or LS/Assistant Professorship
- UGC RGNF
- DBT-JRF Category-1 and Category-II
- qualifying mark in ICAR-NET JRF/SRF for PhD admissions exam conducted by the NTA, GATE-XL/BT/EY score (applied cut-off at school - ≧550)/ GPAT qualifying score/ JGEEBILS (≧35), ICMR JRF or any other equivalent national level examination valid for the AY 2023-2024
School of Computer Sciences
- CSIR-UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for PhD, valid for the academic year August 2024 - July 2025
School of Earth & Planetary Sciences
- 55% or equivalent GPA in M.Sc./M.Tech/M.E in Physics/ Astronomy and Astrophysics/Space Science/Geology/ Applied Geology/ Geoscience/ Geological Sciences/ Geophysics/ Earth Science(s)/ Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences/ Chemistry/ Engineering Physics/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical/ Civil/ Computer engineering/ Data Science
- Candidates with a minimum 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a 4-year / 8 semester Bachelor’s degree science program with Physics/Chemistry as one of the subjects or in a 4-year B.E/B.Tech degree program
- Candidates should have qualified at least one of these National Level Examinations i.e. CSIRUGC-NET/GATE/JEST valid for the academic year August 2024-July 2025
School of Physical Sciences
- JEST 2024 (Percentile ≥ 90, Rank ≤ 496, Marks ≥ 36)
- GATE (Marks ≥ 40), valid for the academic year 2024-25
- CSIR-UGC NET Qualified (JRF / Asst. Professor / LS / Admission to PhD), valid for the academic year 2024-25
School of Chemical Sciences
- 55% or equivalent GPA in Master’s in Chemistry or allied Chemistry fields
- Students with a Master’s degree in any branch of Basic Sciences with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry (or Chemistry as one of the subjects)
OR
M.Tech in applied Chemistry or Computer Sciences with an interest in pursuing a career in Chemistry
- Candidates with a 4-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s degree program with chemistry as a major subject with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade
- A valid score in at least one of these National Level Examinations i.e. CSIR-UGC NET (LS or JRF) /GATE valid for the academic year 2024 –2025
