NSEC: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 57 Reviews

Admission to the college is secured through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) and involves multiple counseling rounds. Once a college is allocated, candidates must confirm their admission by visiting the campus and paying fees of approximately 50,000 INR. The college offers a ragging-free environment with a nominal fee for anti-ragging documentation. The faculty is generally experienced, though the quality varies between departments, with some challenges in the Instrumentation department.

The college's fee structure is similar to other private engineering colleges in West Bengal. For a 4-year B.Tech program, fees range from 3.93 to 4 lakhs INR, with semester fees between 41,000 and 44,250 INR. BCA courses are less expensive. However, a caution money of 30,000 INR is reportedly non-refundable. The college is considered affordable for middle-class families, though some question its value concerning the quality of education and facilities.

The college has a strong placement record, with an average rate of 70% to 95% annually. Key recruiters include top IT companies like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, and Infosys, with average salary packages ranging from 3 to 7 LPA and the highest up to 23 LPA. Placement drives extend up to two years post-graduation. Internship opportunities are available, with stipends between 10,000 and 20,000 INR per month. The college does not offer direct scholarships but supports various government scholarships and the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme for economically backward students, reducing fees to 15,000-20,000 INR over four years.

Educational loans are available, and scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence and financial need. Overall, the college provides a solid platform for students to secure employment in prestigious multinational companies.

There hasn't been any fees hike since I joined the college. The cost to study is around rupees 7000-8000 rupees per month. There are no extra fees for the library and it is accounted for within the regular college fee for each semester.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fees of each semester are around 42,000 and the fees of the last two semesters are a bit high ( around 44,250). So many companies offer scholarships based on your performance and practical knowledge. I got two job offers from on campus. The first one is in Tcs and the job profile is Assistant System Engineer and the package is 3.7 lacs per annum and the second one is in Cognizant and the package is 4 lacs per annum.

The fee structure is a bit high and barely manageable for a lower middle class student. The cost of this course is a bit excess according to me. I am still not placed in any company and did not get any scholarship or stipend of any kind.

The fees are quite average being a private college but the facilities are good. Almost 45k for one semester is not that high. There are also scholarship options, EWS quota for the needy one. So overall good.
