How good is IEM kolkata for mechanical engineering?

IEM Kolkata is a very prestigious private college in West Bengal and it is basically known for some of its branches such as Computer science, Information Technology and Electronics, and Communication engineering. Mechanical at IEM: Few new branches including Mechanical introduced in the institution that has been added in the recent year. The students do not have much of a college life. There are not any extracurricular activities. There are only a handful of supportive faculties in these branches. There are no proper classrooms, labs for the mechanical branch. The Mechanical engineering department is situated on the Management campus. The students are made to follow some irrelevant rules and attend classes and seminars that have nothing to do with their future goals. The course curriculum is not industry-oriented. In placements, students are mostly placed in IT companies. You won’t get much assistance for GATE preparation here too. Faculties are not very supportive and focus more on attendance. Although, students of the Mechanical branch at IEM are doing a good job in student chapters like IEEE, ISHARE, etc. The college is good for other branches but for mechanical, you should look for other options.

PRECIOUS JOURNEY AND EXPERIENCE OF GRADUATION IN IEM.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Everyone should pay 705000 for 4th year. 85000 RS is paid to college per semester.Hostel fees per year is 100000 Rs. Registration fee is 500Rs. A scholarship is given to some students who has financial crisis. Aprrox 50k given to those students.So basically there is no quota system.

The affordability of the college at this price is very good.

Yearly the college takes 7,85,000 excluding the hostel fee. Fee Structure is broken down as 120000 on First semester and remaining 95000 on each for 7 semester. Fee Structure is quite good as compared to other expensive private colleges. The fee is increasing year by year like previous year the first semester fee was 110000 and now 200000

Campus Life

The fees are pretty high right now compared to our time as we were under MAKAUT at that time but now it's an autonomous body. A government scholarship is provided, and financial assistance is also given. The cost to study is pretty high. Will recommend taking a bank loan and studying in CSE or IT and getting nice placements. If you're planning for higher studies, this college might not be the best in the business.

Fees structure is like you have to pay 83k in first semester and after that you have to pay 65k for each remaining semester. They offer many scholarship, financial Assistance from college side but I guess it not much effective.

My course fee for 4 years is 5.81 lakhs including admission fees. The fees of the college increase from batch to batch, but there is not so much price hike in the fees. A student can get a scholarship under various schemes.

The fees hike is quite steady and predictable which is the only good part. Semester fees for each semester is Rs70000 (this does not include hostel/mess fees). No job/scholarship/financial assitance is offered by the college however one may get financial aid from the university to which IEM is affiliated to ie, MAKAUT

IEM IS THE BEST COLLEGE OF BENGAL

There is a minimal difference in the fees hike every year. As the total 4 years, engineering fees of IEM is 4.95 lakhs and you can see a very little difference of 4 to 5 thousand rupees in the total fees annually. As the college brings a lot of improvement in its infrastructure as well as in the academics the fees is also increased a little bit to meet all its expenses. The candidates who fall under the TFW category get the benefits of the financial help provided by the college. The college also reduces their semester fees up to 80% according to their performance in the semester examinations.

Good college

I don't know about the scholarship provided in college but I do have applied for education loan under BSCC SCHEME from Bihar. To apply this scheme your college have to be under NAAC or NIRF rankings. The loan I availed was about 4, 00, 000 Indian rupee.

I don't know the details about the loan facilities offered by my college, But there are some bank in Kolkata which provide loan on name of my college. IF you have done your schooling in Bihar and you are a permanent resident of bihar.you can apply for student loan under the scheme of BIHAR STUDENT CREDIT CARD SCHEME.
