Being a governmnet vollege student its privelege of some sports era like ground and other .
Campus life is best and there is great social interactions
Infrasturucture is great and campus is great
Dislikes
Hostel is not that good and their infrastructure is poor.
Authorities dont listen to your problems and not properly solve it
Restrictions and not properly investement of govt money.
Course Curriculum Overview:
Our batch is 2019, NMC has changed the curriculum to more clinically oriented one.
It's very hectic and we don't have senior guidance. But we have become used to it.
The teachers are also still confused.
The greenery in the college make it even more beautiful
Girls to boys ratio is almost 1:1 in the college and in some batches it is like number of girls are more than boys
The location of the college makes it easier for the students to avail all the facilities nearby
Dislikes
Girls are not allowed to roam in the college campus after 10pm and are supposed to be inside the hostels but on the other hand there are no restrictions on boys
Girls are not allowed to order anything from zomato or swiggy after 9pm and even if they do so they are not allowed to go and collect their orders from the gate because the delivery man is not allowed inside the campus after 9pm due to security
Course Curriculum Overview:
Now the curriculum is more competency based and it is more of an integrated study rather than studying individual subjects
And we have our clinical postings got started right from second prof which helps in early clinical exposure and helps to gain our practical knowledge
Exams are held at the end of every prof that is yearly and difficulty level is moderate
The people around , batchmates and some of the staff.
College vibe and campus, although very small
The city and it's charm. Holy city but also the one for weekend partying.
Dislikes
Office staff is lazy and they don't do their work on time. Notices are delayed.
The Hostel Comittee is only friendly for boys whereas girls have to live under the stress of intime of hostels
The infrastructure has become poor now in some departments. Also some hostels need repairing.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The curriculum is a new one since 2019 which is more clinically oriented and patient focussed. But I donXt know whether it is helping or making students' lives tougher by undue pressure of passing prof exams. We have formative assessments and midterms quite a few times per year and then send ups. Final exams are held annually.
Ground is vast there's a sports complex along with gym and swimming pool and tennis and other games
Good exposure, excellent in academics , amazing Teachers and seniors
There's a 24 hour open canteen in hospital
Dislikes
Fee structure is quite high compared to colleges in other states
Classroom are small for the batch size, repair is going on every now and then
Hostels and mess are old and nasty and sometimes unhygienic
Course Curriculum Overview:
The curriculum is most elaborate and widely renowned is formed by the guidelines of NMC.
Clinical as well pre clinical studies are taught by 19 different departments
Exam are conducted frequently and periodically
I liked the campus built. The building is very big and it has many grounds. There are football, cricket, basketball, handball grounds.
I liked the size of the campus and cleanliness. Also, it is the oldest college in Punjab, so many experienced faculty menbers are present.
Dislikes
I don't like the hostels. They are very dirty. The washrooms are not well equipped. There is no hygiene. The mess food is terrible.
I don't like the fee structure. There is separate fee for everything. No facilities are provided.
I hate the lecture theatres. There are no Acs. The capacity is 150 and we 250 are accomodated there
Course Curriculum Overview:
The curriculum is very well made according to our needs. In the beginning, we had a foundation course which was very helpful and relevant to us. The topics are explained in details. We also visit hospitals for practical knowledge and clinical exposure.
The exams are held yearly and the difficulty level is high.
I like the campus itself. It is huge and is historically built, using red bricks- the ultimate symbol of amritsar. The campus has a huge ground. It caters to various games like cricket, football, basketball, tennis, handball etc.
It also has a newly built sports complex- CISCO that has table tennis, board games, dart games, swimming pool and gym. The fee is also nominal- 300 per month. I also like the faculty members since they are highly educated and professionals.
The campus also has a huge hospital attached- Guru nanak hospital for providing exposure to children. The locality of the campus is also great since it is near Lawrence road- the most popular in town.
Dislikes
I disliked the low level of management in the campus. The campus is not very clean and buildings are not maintained properly. The major problem here is the huge fees. It is about 2 lakhs per annum with 10% increase.
We also have a huge hostel fee, mess fee, ac fee and fridge fee. I believe that the facilities provided are not justified with the huge fee that they take. The social life is not very great because we have very less fests here.
The faculty is good but many of them don't teach well, they just read ppts. Also, the stipend we get in internship is only 15000. This is not enough for the basic needs also. The college really needs to improve the lecture theaters as well.
Course Curriculum Overview:
I chose this course because it is a highly professional degree that is worldwide demanded and respected. The curriculum is well-designed. We are taught theoretically as well as given early clinical exposures in the actual hospital. The curriculum is very relevant to what is needed as a doctor. Improvement can be made in the Anatomy department- dissection of the bodies should be mandatory for students. Other departments should have more specimens and practical studies. Hospital exposure should be increased. Disease should be taught with live examples in hospitals. All in all, practical study should be enhanced.
We majorly have final exams that are the most important. We do have 1st term and mid-term exams, but they aren't considered in the final result.
The difficulty level is high in the finals. It is very difficult to even pass the tests. But that is very well required to bring out good doctors.
Campus with natural grass football ground. In college there outdoor and indoor games available.
Badminton court, table tennis and swimming pool also in college
Gymnasium also available for all students
Dislikes
Old lectures theater, but new lecture theater are on progress
Hostel timing for girls is 7.30 for girl
Mostly college is situated in mid of city so there is no difficulty in purchasing, in doing party with friends
Course Curriculum Overview:
The college strictly follows National Commission guidelines. there teacher teaches by SDL, and seminar for conducted for every topic. there group is made of 4 students. They prepare their own allowed topic presentation in the lecture theatre.
Firstly, the hostels and mess food are pretty good here. Many hostels have mess facilities managed by students themselves ensuring proper addressing of complaints.
Clinical exposure is good beginning from second year till internship.
You get to learn and yourself examine the patients from second year itself. There are facilities like gym, pool , sports area : cisco and many more .
Dislikes
You have to independently cover your entire syllabus which is case in most of medical colleges infact
Lesser events and fests in the past few years make life a bit monotonous
Course Curriculum Overview:
Mbbs is not everyone's cup of tea. Through the four year journey you learn 19 subjects all of which have utmost importance. In terms of relevance, a good doctor needs atleast basic understanding of all the subjects and definitely skilled in his own branch .
The campus is great i think gmc amritsar have the biggest campus in punjab medical college
Teaching faculty is so good most of them are so friendly anf very good at teaching with great experience
There are many cultural programs organised by the college itself
Dislikes
The stipend we get as a medical interns is a matter of concern
Otherwise the college is improving its infra structure so not have much on what i dislike
Course Curriculum Overview:
The new curriculum is too good because now its baaed upon competencies a medical studtent should achieve after graduating, which is necessary so indeed it prepare us for the real world applications
The teaching method now used is mostly on ppt's which can be changed to a better mode like using boards to engage student in a better way according to me
And the exams ,wether its formative assessment or send ups or the final exams are planned very correctly so that a student can prepare for the finals in a way that it doesn't build up too much pressure on the students
No Ragging, connected to the hospital, big campus.
Dislikes
Very high fee as compared to govt medical colleges of other states, low stipened.
Student Snaps:
Course Curriculum Overview:
MBBS is a well known degree creating doctors who are actually considered as god by their patients. It requires lots of hard work which is actually worth the time and money. Frequency of exams is very good. However teaching should be made more practical by offering students more cadavers.
