Course Curriculum Overview

4

Mbbs is not everyone's cup of tea. Through the four year journey you learn 19 subjects all of which have utmost importance. In terms of relevance, a good doctor needs atleast basic understanding of all the subjects and definitely skilled in his own branch .

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Each medical college is associated with the hospital where the students in their last year of degree have to do internship for 12 months in various departments after which they can get their degree and be a member of Punjab medical council. Internship starts after you clear your fourth professional exams, and you get to learn a lot about environment in hospital and managing the both the emergency and elective cases during the internship

Fees and Financial Aid

During my tenure, fees for mbbs in Gmc Asr was 80,000 per year with 10% increase every year and 60k in the last year of internship. During internship we get a stipend of 15k per month. There are various scholarships available through which students can apply for and avail benefits. For the next batches the fees was revised to approx 1.6 lacs per annum and so on .

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life in medical college is fun as well as helps you grow as a person over a long span of 5.5 years . There are several clubs in our college- sports, cultural , academic and so on . Events like sports, quizzes, poetry, debates and conferences are held to bring students on a competitive platform.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities are pretty good in our college. Initially you are alloted a sharing room of four people later on you get your own personal room which are in good condition. The Mess facilities are also good in this college. Food is of good quality and usually there are no major complaints about the food or hygiene. The annual fee for Hostel is 40,000 and there is separate fees for AC or fridge installation

Admission

Admission into medical colleges is via NEET exam. Without qualifying neet you cannot apply for admission process in India. For a government college, the cutoffs are usually high and a good rank is required to get into one.

Faculty

4

The faculty is determined to make us learn and get appropriate exposure to patients in opd, wards and emergencies. They are post graduates in their branches and some even are super specialists. Doing justice to their job .

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum “is well-planned … as per NMC (National Medical Commission) guidelines.” Practical classes are included daily alongside theory. “practicals are also included each day along with theory classes.” The AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics, Communication) component is explicitly mentioned, which is good because it shows attention to non-technical competencies. there are 4 levels of exams in a year — mid-terms, “send-ups,” etc. Some students feel the curriculum is stressful.
