Purdue University Accommodation: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 19 Reviews

Purdue University offers a range of on-campus and off-campus housing options for students. On-campus dormitory buildings vary in price and amenities, offering single, double, and triple occupancy rooms, with an annual cost for a shared room approximately $8,000. Off-campus housing tends to be more affordable, especially if students have access to a car, with average rents ranging from $550 to $1,000 per month depending on the location and quality of the apartment.

Graduate students can choose to live in on-campus graduate housing, with options to share a two-bedroom apartment for $580 or have a private unit for $750, including utilities. Off-campus, some students report spending around $800 to $1,000 monthly, inclusive of rent and living expenses. Although finding affordable housing can be challenging due to high demand, there are resources like student organizations that aid in securing accommodation. Campus facilities include dining halls and a free fitness center, and there are shuttle services to campus, though some off-campus locations may require a car for convenient access.

  • I don't remember how much the monthly rent of my accommodation in the dorm but my off-campus rent was 825$ for a spacious 4b-4bath. Since my time, I know that 5 more student dorms and 5 more off-campus locations have opened up for students.

  • I found accommodation, after I landed to us my brother received me and he took me to University where we met few Indian students and they helped in finding accommodation. I have got Student Assistant and I payed my rents from the salary. I used my bank loan to pay college fee. Challenges are most of the people are black guys we need to share with them it's really not easy during the beginning days, later it becomes very easy and everything went well. Yeah l, definitely I will future students if they need help. It's about 0.9 mile 10 Minutes walk.

  • I opted for off campus since I had my friends staying off campus and also off campus is cheaper than on campus stays. But on campus is very safe.
  • I found the accommodation with the help of my friends and there is also an Indian association solely helping the Indian international students.
  • It was smooth finding the accommodation.
  • For future students, I can definitely help them or help them reach out to students who can help them.
My accommodation is 8 minutes walkable distance from the university. Most of the students stay in community apartments near the college or independent housing, which is also a good option.

Purdue offers relatively affordable rental or housing options, as it is a college town primarily populated by students.

I chose Purdue university particularly for this course in aerospace and aviation management as this course is highly valued in this university and has a great reputation as well and this clearly aligns with my career goals as well. My overall experience at Purdue has been highly rewarding; the dynamic academic environment, supportive faculty and numerous extracurricular opportunities have enriched my education and professional development.

Uni dorms are 2 people per room for about $8k per year, off campus housing gets you your own room and bathroom for $800/month.

I chose this university because of it's reputation, affordability, education. It is amongst Top 20 schools that have tuition frozen at 2010 levels and the education improved me immensely.

There are several clubs and facilities available for students. There is a fitness facility that is free for all students and several organizations that cater to different interests.

I chose this initially for the nursing program but changed my mind. I knew this college was a great school in general, especially well-known for engineering. I decided to stick to the psychology program since it was most interesting to me. I definitely think that the campus is very diverse and that there are a lot of opportunities for students to really find what they are in college for. There are many avenues that students can connect with other students on and several resources that are typically free of charge.

"Yes, 3 LOR. Academic LORs are fine. If had a work experience you can also submit lor from your manager. SOP - mentioned why I want to do masters and how it will add value to my future, my skills and accomplishments. Resume /CV with all education, work exp, awards" One of the best universities for specialization in operations research It's quite exciting and challenging. Have to balance between academics and non academic stuff. Helps in learning task management and prioritization.

My first year I lived in a dorm with one other roommate. The cost was about $850 per month. I now live off campus, and cost of rent has skyrocketed. The biggest con of purdue, would not recommend if you are trying to save on cost of living. My rent has increased from $710 to $1000 in just one year, landlords are extremely greedy in this area and many students are struggling to find affordable housing.

I chose this program for the engineering ranking and the fact that Purdue is a well known name. My overall experience has been very good academically. purdue is a bit boring and not a party school since many students here are engineering students. The quality of education is extremely good though.

There is enough housing available but slightly far from campus which makes it difficult to commute during winter. avg rent would be 600$ per month for a private room.

Its very good. Purdue has a strong reputation that helps from Visa interviews to placements.
