Course Curriculum
- The Mechanical Engineering syllabus at Purdue is quite updated and closely aligned with current industry practices and research developments. Courses are regularly revised to incorporate modern tools, computational methods, and emerging technologies, ensuring that students gain relevant and practical knowledge. While the department provides numerous opportunities for industrial exposure and research, students are expected to take the initiative to pursue them.
- Options such as internships, co-op programmes, undergraduate research projects, and design teams are available, but participation largely depends on individual effort and networking. Typically, students have about two to three classes a day, with lectures scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM, depending on the course load and lab sessions. The class size varies—introductory and core courses often have 80 to 150 students, while advanced or elective courses are smaller, usually ranging from 20 to 40 students, allowing for better interaction with professors and peers.
