What Students Say
Likes
- Very diverse crowd, but one thing is common, everyone is highly career-focused
- Isolated college town, away from city life, so safe as well.
- State-of-the-art technology to teach students.
Course Curriculum
- Purdue is highly focused on its academics and continually updates the curriculum by adding new topics to the syllabus. We have a senior design capstone program where we get industrial experience.
Admission Experience
- I have always been interested in studying engineering, and Purdue is one of the top engineering schools in the world. Plus, for international students, Purdue is very economical compared with other top universities.
- Another main reason to choose Purdue was that the college campus was secluded from the main city, so it was very safe, and my parents could be less worried because a big city can be overwhelming and scary for a 17-year-old who is coming from a different part of the world
Faculty
- The faculty-to-student ratio is actually quite decent. Even if the professor might be unreachable in a class of 300 students, there are around 5-10 Graduate teaching assistants who can help with homework and doubts.
Campus Life
- Amazing, very wholesome campus, a lot of clubs and extracurricular activities happening on campus regularly. Around 6 different libraries, the biggest student gym in the country.
Part Time Jobs
You are not allowed to work off campus. On average, during my time, you could earn 8$/hr.
Placement
- When I graduated, it was just after covid which is a very big anomaly, so answering this question would be tough for me but there are Industrial Roundtables happening on campus every year.
Accommodation
- I don't remember how much the monthly rent of my accommodation in the dorm but my off-campus rent was 825$ for a spacious 4b-4bath. Since my time, I know that 5 more student dorms and 5 more off-campus locations have opened up for students.
Exams
- My scores: IELTS: 7, SAT: 1380. But I was waitlisted, so I should require more than this.
- Yes, your IELTS and SAT scores are required along with your LOR, CV, and SOPs. A suggestion is to take the TOEFL, and if you score I think 108, you can skip the very first introductory English class.
Fees
- I think tuition fees are around 16,500 to 19,000 $ per semester, and apart from that, with rent you need 1200-1400 $ per month as living costs.
