Course Curriculum

8

  • I personally took the software development track, where the positive thing is that I have learnt about cloud-based technology (AWS) and also data recovery management as part of cyber security, as well as the course on machine learning I have covered, which is a booming technology in the market.

Admission Experience

  • I have applied to the University of Michigan, Flint, Florida Atlantic University, University of West Georgia, and Dayton University, and I got confirmation from all the universities except the University of West Georgia. First I got rejection mail and after a couple of months I have received mail from that university and it mentioned that you need to send a letter with not less than 500 words explaining why we should give you admission. I immediately sent a mail soon after I got approval from this university as well.
  • The admission process was easy, fast and thoroughly; they are checking each and every document that we provide. Now the eligibility criteria is that we must have IELTS or Duolingo and a good GRE score not less than 200. and also they are asking for WES (need to send our degree transcripts via authorised world education services to the Columbus State University).
  • Fall intake 2022, factors like my education background and considered my GRE and TOEFL score.
  • The process took around 4 months. Initially, I uploaded the documents of the bank statement and SOP; once those are verified, they will ask us to upload all skills-related documents. Once we upload all the documents again, it takes like 2 months as a reviewing process. Finally, everything is done, and they will issue the i-20. Then we can go for DS-160, sevis and all.

Class Schedule

8

  • There would be like hardly 20 students per class, including online students. Half of the students are Indians.

Faculty

8

  • Faculty were industrial experts I would say, each and every staff were experienced and well known faculty. Each and every faculty teaches us with practically which involves labs and projects.
  • Every student will have advisor he/her will take care of students. They will help us in applying jobs and also we have separate department for careers. My advisor she is a great faculty and I really like the way she teaches. Technically she deeply dive into the subject.

Campus Life

8

  • 2 campuses, one in the down town, which is called the riverside campus and the main campus is in the centre of the city, exit-7. We have a Columbus Indian community recently started a year ago so they usually conduct a few events and celebrate festivals as well.
  • Extracurricular activities like our university is one of best in baseball game we have a team named the Cougars; it is the 2007 champions, I am not sure. For every special day, students will conduct events usually it happens every month .

Part Time Jobs

  • Typically, from the computer science department, as far as I know, there are like eight teaching assistants and four graduate assistants. Pay range should be 15 dollars per hour and GA and RAs would receive the tuition fee waiver. Maximum hours are 19 per week. They will run the payroll; those are very secured; tax is also deducted from our pay, so for every one year their jobs will end and they will rehire after 2 semesters, which means as per rules they should have to hire TA,RA and GAs only for two respective semesters; after that they will start the hiring process.
  • On an hourly basis, they typically earn like 15 dollars per hour only in the computer science department; the rest of all departments would pay based on the budget allocated by the university. Typically they will get like 8, 11 dollars. It's very easy because the schedule will be allocated based on the students classes so mostly we will get a lot of free time. If we utilise the time, then we will become industrial experts. And moreover, students will have access to the HR portal, where all the jobs are posted.

Placement

8

  • Students must have 3 on the scale of 4. Average salary should be based on technology; the minimum basis is 75k USD and the maximum would be 130k USD. Students will find jobs via websites, references, campus drive and all.
  • Major companies like Global Payments, TSYS, and ADP all hire graduate students. Most of my seniors got placed by applying for jobs via LinkedIn, Dice, and indeed social websites.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I found accommodation, after I landed to us my brother received me and he took me to University where we met few Indian students and they helped in finding accommodation. I have got Student Assistant and I payed my rents from the salary. I used my bank loan to pay college fee. Challenges are most of the people are black guys we need to share with them it's really not easy during the beginning days, later it becomes very easy and everything went well. Yeah l, definitely I will future students if they need help. It's about 0.9 mile 10 Minutes walk.

Exams

  • GRE, TOEL. The documents like the bank balance statement should be a $24,000 statement of purpose, lOR, CV and job offer letter if you did previously. There is no interview; they just cross-check the certificates and documents that we provided. If we have a good score, then we don't need to worry about the admission; we only worry about the WES process of our transcripts.
  • If your undergrad college is private, then it could be easy; otherwise, at universities like JNTU, we must have to follow rules that they provided.

Fees

  • It's based on course, mostly like 1450$ per course and also we will have health insurance around 1500$ per semester. The total, I mean the entire master's degree, it costs like 25k USD. So total we have 30 credits if don't get GA and 3 courses per semester we must have to take as a foreign student in the first 3 semesters for maintaining the status. Each semester would cost like 6500$*4 for a total of 26k.
  • If we get GA, we need to pay only 1500$ from health insurance, which is only per semester, so for 4 semesters it costs like 6000$ and 33 credits, where we must do a thesis if we get GA in the Computer Science Department for those 3 extra credits we will get.

Scholarship

  • I did not get any scholarship, but my juniors got International Scholarship around 5000$, on average 3-5 international students will get scholarships. If students get international scholarship those students has to do service in the college with international students cell. Few of my friends got GA and received tuition fee waiver.
  • One guy got GA in Center for language lab so he paid only 6000$ throughout his master's only for health insurance. One of my friend got GA in Computer Science Department and he also done the same as the guy did above but he has to do Thesis and he did.
