What Students Say?
Likes
- Academic rigour, frozen tuition, extracurriculars, large campus in a quiet town, friendly people, excellent professors, plenty of mentorship and leadership opportunities
Dislikes
- University dining, lack of proper university housing, lack of funds for certain programs due to frozen tuition.
I chose this university because of it's reputation, affordability, education. It is amongst Top 20 schools that have tuition frozen at 2010 levels and the education improved me immensely.
Course Curriculum
World-class, multiple sources have put Purdue's academic rigor on par with MIT and Caltech.
Exams
- SAT: 1490, ACT: 33, TOEFL: 116. This was in 2019 and I had excellent co-curricular to supplement my application so a 1530 or above might be required in the next cycle. - 10th: 100% at PSBB Millennium; 12th: 82% at Chettinad Vidyashram College: 3.27/4.00 at Purdue - Requirements: No interviews, 2 LORs, a short SOP and a resume (but this was for undergraduates so the resume wasn't that big of a deal)
Placement
Excellent industrial connections, 20 partnerships and 500 companies come to career fairs, median salary around $85k.
Fees
$45000/year
Faculty
Professors are kind and incredibly capable, faculty to student ratio is bad in the first year but once you get to specialized courses it's very personal.
Campus Life
As good as any campus, 3000 student clubs, 24/7 library, industry leading research.
Hostel
Uni dorms are 2 people per room for about $8k per year, off campus housing gets you your own room and bathroom for $800/month.
