Likes
- "It is the best among my admits. The Electrical and Computer Engineering department is in Top 10. The fee is considerably lower as it is a public university and cost of living is lower. Excellent coursework and research."
- "Lots of efforts has been made to design the coursework that gives tightly coupled theoretical and practical knowledge and skills. Huge campus with lots of facilities. Very good administration."
Dislikes
- Not much. Its the weather that can get rough. Its mostly cold (less than 10 C) and in Jan/Feb it goes upto -25 C.
Required Exams for Admission
Its very good. Purdue has a strong reputation that helps from Visa interviews to placements.
Course Curriculum
It is excellent. Many courses have projects that will give near-industry experience.
Faculty
the ratio is 14:1. Most professors are skilled and their lectures are excellent. We can talk to any professors during their office hours. Prof. Mithuna Thottethodi, he takes computer architecture and I loved his lectures and the coursework. Prof. Sumeet Gupta, he takes VLSI design and as part of that course, I designed a Memory which was a great experience. Prof. TN Vijaykumar, I haven't taken any of his courses, but he and his team won a patent lawsuit of multi-million dollars against intel which is inspiring.
Campus Life
There are hundreds of clubs covering almost everything. For example, Archipelago Music Club, running club, Wall Climbing Club, Star Wars Club, Indian Association, etc. The infrastructure is excellent. Its huge with big libraries, full wifi connectivity, and a huge Sports center. There is career guidance center, mental health counseling, health center, etc and all of these are free for full time students.
Placement
There will be campus fairs in both fall and Spring. In Fall 2023, around 500 companies had their stalls in the fair and in the Spring 2024, around 200 companies had their stalls.
Accommodation
There is enough housing available but slightly far from campus which makes it difficult to commute during winter. avg rent would be 600$ per month for a private room.
Exams
Admission requirements: GRE optional IELTS 6.5 My scores: GRE 151 Verbal 165 Quant 3.5 Writing; IELTS 7.5. CV - Summary of my professional and Academic life.
