What students say about University of Florida

Likes

  • I enjoy my curriculum; the information being taught is interesting and has real-world relevance.
  • All of the faculty on campus are involved in at least one type of research, so its super easy to get involved in research.
  • Most companies do not provide H1-B work visas, so the options are a bit limited for students.
  • I have an academic scholarship distributed by the university, Bright Futures, as a Florida resident, and financial aid.
  • There are many clubs to join, such as the SE club, chess clubs, the Computer Networking club, and the ACM club. Most of these clubs are on Discord, so you should check the advertising feature on Discord that shows clubs near your location.
  • UF has over 50,000 students and nowhere near as much housing, so the majority of students live off-campus within walking distance.
  • We had fees for many different things; we had athletic fees that allowed us to attend certain sporting events for free.
  • The faculty in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is awesome, to describe in a word.
  • The pharmacy school is one of the best in the country and it successfully places many of its students in residency programs.

It’s ranking and opportunities, as well as affordability and location I would say academically I haven’t done as well as I’ve hoped, but my GPA and grades are still decent. The social scene is an 8.5/10, as I’ve made lots of friends and have good involvement outside of class.

Dislikes:

  • Its a common issue among all the colleges and universities in the USA, that there is no placement cell as we find in Indian colleges, hence students have to grind for jobs on their own. Apart from that there is not much to dislike about. null

Its a good experience as long as you take benefit of the services offered to you as a student. If you are paying such hefty amount make sure you extract every dollar out of it by honestly studying and making the best out of it.

Dislikes:

  • There are few things which i personally did not like about this university. Firstly, It is the location where the university is situated i.e gainesville area. There is not much to do here in gainesville apart from the university area so sometimes it becomes monotonous to be there. Also, the food, specially the indian cuisine is a bit expensive there as compared to other states. Secondly, the weather conditions are extreme mainly during summer its unbearable. Thirdly, i did not like the grading system at UF. null

My overall experience at UF was good. It was a great opportunity to pursue my master's program abroad as it not only helped me in gaining academics knowledge but also to understand and interact with people from different places and background.

I was quite sure about the features I wanted in the program I wanted to apply for. The University of Florida piqued my interest because it had excellent research work being conducted in the field I was most interested in. It is of course a prestigious university while still being economic. It has very good connections with NASA as well which provides exceptional work and internship opportunities to students.

Low tuition among universities with the same level of research and high reputation. I wanted to get into this university for more exposure and better facilities.

It is the best college in my state for the program that I am getting my degree in. I have always wanted to go to UF and decided at a very early age that it would be my first pick school. I also knew there wouldn't be a chance I could go out of state.

The distance to home was rather close, and I was still able to use my Bright Futures Scholarship money, as well as gain a local scholarship to the University! In addition, my close friend was planning on attending this college, so it helped finalize my decision.

My college has an amazing Health Science program, and from here it is possible to move into the University of Florida Medical School without changing towns again! Gainesville is also less metropolitan than most other Florida universities do which was appealing to me.

The pharmacy school is one of the best in the country and matches a lot of their students for residency programs. It is also where my mom went to undergrad. The college is also in a great location and I love the town.
