FAQs
Ques. What is Texas A&M known for?
Ans. Texas A&M is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university known for its programs in engineering, technology, and agriculture. The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas became the state's first institution of higher education when it opened in 1876
Ques. Can I get into Texas A&M with a 3.0 GPA?
Ans. If you're just entering your sophomore year of high school, you still have a chance to bring up that GPA. It's not impossible to get into TAMU with a 3.0, but the rest of your application needs to be very compelling.
Ques. Is a 3.9 weighted GPA good for Texas A&M?
Ans. As a freshman, a 3.9 GPA is a great start. If your school has a weighted GPA scale, you may even be able to increase it by taking more difficult classes. A 3.9 GPA puts you in a good position with respect to college admissions - all but the most selective schools should be relatively safe bets for you.
Ques. I applied in July at TAMU but AIS says I am still in review. Does this mean there is a problem?
Ans. No; students will remain "in review" until a decision is made.
Ques. Can I appeal my TAMU admission decision?
Ans. Yes, but there are strict guidelines. You can read about them at Admission Decision Appeals.
Ques. Is Financial Aid Available for International Students who want to apply at TAMU?
Ans. Visit iss.tamu.edu for detailed, up-to-date information about financial assistance for international students attending Texas A&M.

- The college is conveniently situated in a region which is very close to some major places like Houston, Dallas and Austin making it easier to travel to these places within 1-2 hours.
- College Station is also very college friendly which means compared to a lot of other regions, one would feel much more safer in the area.
- The college campus is huge offering different libraries, eateries, accommodation options especially for undergrads, clothing stores, etc. It is like a mini-mall in itself.
Dislikes
- Although the Aggie Bus is there, it does not operate at regular intervals during fall break or other vacation times making it difficult to commute around those times.
- Some of the buildings are very old so you may run into some or the other outage occasionally although it is easily resolvable.
- The eateries are not very budget-friendly however you may opt for monthly subscriptions of meals to get it at cheaper rates.
Scholarship
- Yes I am currently on a teaching assistantship for my stipend and my tuition fee has completely been waived off. In addition, for the University of Adelaide application (which I eventually did not join after a very tough decision), I was awarded the CEAStar scholarship.
- The award amount covers the tuition fee (waives it off), pays for my health insurance and is about 30,000 USD per year.
- Many of my friends are on a similar scholarship. On an average about 18 students get this scholarship.
Likes
- My college is good for the engineering department and in terms of research opportunities.
- The infrastructure is very good and has all facilities.
- There are good opportunities for students who want to do part-time jobs.
Dislikes
- The MIS department of my college is degrading in terms of quality of teaching, in terms of coursework.
- No help is provided to students in their job findings and placements. Students are not allowed to Coop which is big No.
Overview
I chose this college because of its reputation in particular: good infrastructure, good location, and cultural diversity. Overall the experience was good in terms of everything except my coursework and faculty of Information Management.
Likes
- Top 5 in my course in the US. Large alumni base, very good brand name.
Dislikes
- While I don't have any specific dislikes, navigating through numerous faculty issues at times was challenging. Overall, my experience was positive, but these challenges occasionally affected the university's environment.
Overview
My experience at Texas A&M University was nothing short of extraordinary. Stepping onto the campus, I was immediately immersed in the quintessential American college atmosphere I had always dreamed of. The vibrant student culture, diverse community, and rich traditions made every day an adventure. Football games at the iconic Kyle Field were the epitome of school spirit, filling the air with electric energy and uniting us as Aggies. The camaraderie among the large student body was infectious, creating a sense of belonging that I had never felt before. Participating in various clubs and organizations allowed me to explore my interests, make lifelong friendships, and expand my horizons. The university's commitment to academic excellence was evident in every lecture hall, challenging me to grow intellectually and personally. The campus, adorned with historic buildings and modern facilities, provided the perfect backdrop for my collegiate journey. But it was the little things, like the Aggie Ring ceremony and the Midnight Yell Practice, that made my experience truly special. These traditions instilled a deep sense of pride in being part of the Aggie family. Attending Texas A&M University was more than just earning a degree; it was an immersive and unforgettable chapter of my life, shaping me into the person I am today. I am grateful for the memories, friendships, and lessons that will stay with me forever. Gig 'em, Aggies!

- Texas A&M University being a reputed university in Texas has a large community through the United States. The curriculum, flexibility in courses and the professors are exceptional.
- Adding to this is the cost efficiency where you get to finish off your masters without burdening yourself with huge loans.
Dislikes
- One main thing I dislike is the location. The university is situated in a town or a suburb area here. Not much access to the metro facilities. But on the bright side, big cities like Houston and Austin are just 90 mins away
Overview
Overall experience has been good so far. With the right coursework, professors, extracurricular activities to do and the people around, university life has been great so far.
Overview
Good Program, Good Alumni Network, and closer to major cities like Houston, Austin, and Dallas.
