19 Oct, 2025 NTA has released the tentative schedule for JEE (Main) 2026, which will be conducted in two sessions, in January and April 2026. The online application form for Session 1 will be available on jeemain.nta.nic.in from Oct 2025. The examinations are scheduled to be held from Jan 21 to Jan 30, for Session 1 and from April 1 to April 10, 2026, for Session 2. Check LIVE Updates Here.

16 Oct, 2025 IIT JAM 2026 registration is ongoing for MSc, Joint MSc+PhD, and MSc+PhD (Dual Degree) admissions. The last date to register @jam2026.iitb.ac.in has been extended to October 20, 2025 (11:59 PM). IIT JAM 2026 Exam is scheduled for February 15, 2026. For more details, check here.

NIT Sikkim, also known as National Institute of Technology Sikkim, was established in 2010. It is an autonomous university, recognised by the UGC and approved by the AICTE. In 2025, Collegedunia ranked it 112 in the engineering category, and IIRF ranked it 102 in the same category. NIT Sikkim offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs in various specialisations.

BTech is the flagship program offered at NIT Sikkim. For admission to the BTech program, students must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Candidates are selected based on JEE Main ranks, followed by JosAA Counselling. In 2025, NIT Sikkim JEE Main Cutoff rank for the general category ranged between 21087 - 49684. The total fee for the BTech program is INR 5.82 lakhs.

According to the recent placement drive, the highest package offered to placed students was INR 44 LPA, and the lowest package was INR 11 LPA. The overall placement rate was 75.37%. NIT Sikkim Admission 2026

NIT Sikkim offers four programs, including BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD, in various specialisations.

BTech is the most popular program offered at NIT Sikkim. For admission to the BTech program, students must appear for the JEE Main exam followed by JosAA counselling. NIT Sikkim also offers the MTech program in 10 specialisations. For NIT Sikkim Admission to the MTech program, candidates need to appear for the GATE exam followed by CCMT counselling. The total fee for the BTech program is INR 5.82 lakhs, and the fee for the MTech program is INR 1.83 lakhs.

Apart from these two programs, NIT Sikkim offers an MSc program in Chemistry. For admission to the MSc program, candidates must appear for the IIT JAM examination, followed by CCMN counselling. In 2025, NIT Sikkim IIT JAM cutoff rank for the general category ranged between 1710 - 1800. The total fee for the MSc program is INR 74,327.

NIT Sikkim currently operates a temporary campus located in South Sikkim. The campus is surrounded by the mountains, waterfalls and offers several facilities for its students, such as classrooms, a computer lab, playgrounds and many more.

According to the student reviews, the college is lacking in many things, like proper facilities, enough space, good maintenance, and discipline. The clubs were not very supportive, and teachers did not take much initiative to guide or help in club activities.

Ans. Campus life at NIT Sikkim is peaceful. Since the college is in the mountains, students enjoy beautiful views and a calm environment. There are clubs for coding, debate, music, and more. Even though the facilities are not as big as older NITs, the bonding among students makes hostel and campus life enjoyable.

Ques. When will the permanent campus of NIT Sikkim be ready?

Ans. NIT Sikkim permanent campus is under construction by NBCC India Ltd with a cost of INR 547 crore. It will feature academic blocks, modern hostels, dining halls, staff housing, a health centre, and sports facilities. Target completion is expected in the next few years.

Likes

Climate of Ravangla is very pleasant as it remains cold throughout with bright sunny days in the morning and chilled nights.
View of Mt. Kanchenjunga (world's 3rd highest peak) is visible from campus of NIT Sikkim which is totally mesmerizing and breathtaking.
Familiar behavior and nature of professors around you will treat you as their students and the professors are very much supportive in nature

Dislikes

Infrastructure still needs to be improved a lot as students forced to line in a 5 bedded sharing rooms where it becomes very difficult for a student to follow their own routine and along with hostels the facilities are also not that top notch

More or less the students chose their courses as per their interest, career oppurtunities are there for each and every courses being at NIT Sikkim and is very much relevant with the current scenario as even being the core departments of Electrical, Mechanical and Civil, students gets the exposure of courses like AI/ML, Data Science and some basics of Coding as well.

Internship opportunity in various organization

Internship oppurtunities are provided every year at NIT Sikkim in top notch companies like Infinion, Cummins, Vedanta, NHPC, ONGC, IOCL, SLB, Neenopal, Dharaksha Ecosolutions and many others having an average stipend of 15k-10k per month

Companies recruiting from the campus, highest and average package being offered

If you are capable enough you will be getting decent placements, Overall placement statistics lies about 80-90% with an average pacakage of 9-10 lacs per annum including 90-95% for CSE, ECE. EEE and almost 80-85% for core branches like Mechanical and Civil. Some of major past recruiters are CDAC, CDOT, BEL, VEDANTA, DELOITTE, MAHINDRA, MARUTI SUZUKI, UKG, GENPACT, BPCL, L&T, ALSTOM, NVIDIA, MICROSOFT, SLB, TERADATA, CGI and many others. Highest pacakage for the batch of 2023-24 was 44 LPA by NVIDIA and average was around 9.95 LPA. From start of the 7th semesters , the students can register themselves for placements and from 5th semester onwards student can register themselves for internship opputunities. NIT Sikkim also provide opportunities of highes studies like PhD from reputed institutes like IIT Hyderabad, IIT Delhi and some other prominent institutions as well.

What is the total fees of the course and scholarship availability in the campus?

Total fees without any exemption is Rs 141086 per annum for Btech course where as college also provide the exemption in fees depending on the annual family income if less than 1 lakh then the total fees is around Rs 16k per annum and if annual family income lies in between 1 lac to 5 lac then total annual fees is around Rs 70k. Total fees include tuition fees which is exempted for SC/ST students and students whose annual family income is less than 1 lac for rest of the students it varies as per the annual family income if more than 1 lac and less than 5 lac then annual tuition fee is Rs 41668 and if annual family income is more than 5 lac then it is Rs 125000 annualy. Other fees included in total fee is examination, library, laboratory, internet, mediacl OPD, insurance and Training and placement fee which is in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 1000 annualy. Institute also provide scholarships for meritorious students, Some of the scholarships provided are Nation Scholarship Program(NSP), SDEF Scholarship Program, Some scholarships for SC/ST Candidates and state scholarships for students of their respective native state.

College events, various clubs and facilities available in campus

Overall exeperience was fine as NIT sikkim is located at a place where tourists suppose to visit , there are so many places around the campus where you can enjoy on weekends with friends and family as well. NIT Sikkim host Udgam which is annual cultural fest and Abhiyantran which is annual tech fest. Every classroom is well equipped with the smartboards and smart classrooms with projectors as well. Interms of sports facilities we have seperate vollyball, basketball , kho-kho, fotball ground in the campus itself, Badminton is also there which is used by students and faculties as well. NIT Sikkim conducts annual sports fest every year and also encourage students to participate in annual sports fest of some other IITs/NITs across the country. Some of the student run clubs are Cultural club, Departmental clubs like yantrika, anuvrat etc

Facilities provided in the college hostel

As NIT Sikkim is still operating from a temporary campus, hostel facilities are not as per the other NITs, Students are forced to live in a 5 bedded sharing rooms, where 5 table, 5 chairs, 5 almirahs, 5 beds are provided for each students but it becomes very tough to follow the individual routine. Mess food quality is poor and the only reason institute state is RAVANGALA IS VERY REMOTE LOCATION.

Students view on faculties

Faculty to student ratio is almost 1:10 that means on every 10 students there is 1 faculty and in terms of the approachibilty of the professors they are easily available around the campus and very supportive in nature for your academic and Non academic doubts as well. Some of the famous faculties are Dr Dhananjay Tripathi Sir, Dr. Anil Lal S, Dr. Debajit Saha, Dr, Biswajit Roy, Dr. Aurobinda Panda, Dr. Joy Pal, Dr. Ranjan Basak, these all professors are very helpful and friendly in behavior with the students and very much approachable to students as well. For every subject in a semester there will be two mid term exams will be there of 15 marks each and major end term exam will be there of 50 marks which comprises to 80 marks and rest of the 20 marks are decided by respective faculty handling the course like 20 marks comprises of assignment, viva, attendence etc. This is same for every subject across all the semesters.

Admission process and eligibility criteria

As per my JEE Mains rank, NIT Sikkim was the college i was getting along with some other NITs in north east for core branches and some other NITs in lower branches. I chose NIT Sikkim as it is located in a very scenic location in the state of sikkim and it is not very far from my home town. I got Mechanical Engineering which i wanted to pursue to it was also a major point in selecting this college. I applied to the same course of some other NITs as well but as per my JEE Rank this was the option i was getting through the counselling. Mode of admission to NIT Sikkim is you need to clear a national level examination called Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains the as per your scorecard you need to apply for JOSAA counselling followed by CSAB special round counselling. Cutoff is about 97 percentile for students belonging from general catory but there is reservation for Home state students as 50% of the seats at every NIT is reserved for students belonging from the native state of NIT where it is located and some other reservations are also there for EWS/OBC/SC/ST candidates.

Night Life

Gym is there for boys, For girls as of now Gym facility is not there. Canteen is located inside the insitute where you can have a nice evening spending time with friends after classes or examinations. Hostel in time is 8PM for both boys and girls but is strictly follwed for girls only.

The weather there is just like when you come out from your hostel it seems like a mountain you above the cloud all feels like so energetic
Ofcourse you will receive a good friends here if you good only then only otherwise negative people as well

Dislikes

The girls to boyes ratio is very less so take care for that

Why I choose this college becuase already mention this is not in my hand it all about the jee rank or you can say my efforts or luck and on comparing the other college then this college is small so it is good for me as i am unble to move much as happended in the big campus as i moved to other college but yet missing the much faciliy

Likes

Climate of Ravangla is very pleasant as it remains cold throughout with bright sunny days in the morning and chilled nights.

Dislikes

Infrastructure still needs to be improved a lot as students forced to line in a 5 bedded sharing rooms where it becomes very difficult for a student to follow their own routine and along with hostels the facilities are also not that top notch

Likes

The perks and benefits of institute of national importance.
The natural view of kanchenjungha and greenery with fresh air.It is so much relaxing.

Dislikes

Less space available and small campus due to which less number of rooms.
The less availability of resources like water and electricity.
Less exposure like no malls , no educational institutions and any kind of coaching centres

Admission:

The admission process is same as other NITs or IITs that is through jee mains examination. Based on my rank I have applied to various NITs and semi government colleges and through JOSAA and CSAB councelling I get this college.

Admission:

I got into the college through my result of JEE mains. In it I had a 93 percentile and got NIT Sikkim in general category by other state quota. The admission had some quite complications which I didn't like otherwise the process was smooth.

Eligibility of the course was jee mains rank Application form we got it from josAA Yes we got reservation benefits which exclude exemption of college fee Frequency exam is there are two mid term exam and one end term exam The document arrangement part is but hectic

There were different sections for the eligibility of the course which we can find in the official website of the college. Application form, fees and dates were all mentioned in the official website of the college. There were advantages for the home state students there cut off was easy as compared to other states it was good opportunity for the home state students.

Likes

The distraction free environment as there are no malls, clubs, etc. to waste your time so that you can focus on skill development
The exposure you get being in NIT as it is an institute of National Importance.

Dislikes

During rainy season it creates a lot of problem as there are a lot of leeches there and we are afraid to go out.

Admission:

You have to take an Entrance exam named JEE Mains and then go for counseling (Josaa or CSAB or preferably both) I got into this college in the second round of CSAB. IJEE mains will be available 3 months before the exam on the JEE mains official website. The questions in this exam is based on PCM of 10+2 level only of the CBSE curriculum After you clear this exam, based on your percentile and preference you will get a college and branch. You have to pay a certain amount to either lock or upgrade your seat. SC/ST students have to pay comparatively low fees and they get a college in the 80-90 percentile also. But if you are a General /OBC candidate, you get a college if you score at least above the 90 percentile. After you get a college, you have to go for physical verification in your college with all the documents and complete the admission process.

Admission:

JEE MAIN is the eligibility criteria. SC gets more benefits. There is a home state reservation. Home-state students easily get this nit Sikkim. Here top 20 SC students get a scholarship of 104000. There is full fee remission for those students whose parents' annual income is less than 1 lakh.

Great academic experience

Admission:

With a 75% in the school I had not faced too much of problem and then I had to clear the JEE exam for the admission because it was set as a basic eligibility. Some categories, such as obc, sc, st, and ews, have some reservations. When you pass the jee main exam, I had to fill out a form in the josaa round for counselling, and there is a csab round after the admission completion.

No, as per the previous year's cutoff analysis of the GATE for the Mtech at the NIT Sikkim, the cutoff varies as per the specializations. NIT, GATE Cutoff 2023 for General Category was 396 - 431 marks such as for M.Tech VLSI Design & Embedded System the cutoff was 396 marks, and for M.Tech. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, the cutoff was 431 marks in GATE. The cutoff varies as per the categories also. NIT, GATE Cutoff 2023 for OBC Category was 342 - 359 marks. The first-year fee is INR 1.51 Lakhs, and for the 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th years, the fee is INR 1.40 lakhs for each year. For admission into the B.Tech program, candidates have to appear for JEE Main and JoSAA counseling. Candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent by the AIU or Intermediate or 2-year Pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board/ University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects.
