A very honest review of NIT SIKKIM

Hostel Facilities:

Hostel facilities are also not soo good . There is fixed timming for water supply. Rooms are not spacecious , there is some rooms in which 5-6 students used to live in a single small room. Here, in sikkim too much humidity is there , so , walls of rooms used to wet all the time ( dampness in walls).But view from hostel rooms are really worth watching. Mess food is above average. They used to give 4/7 days nonveg Only Tuesday ,Thursday & Saturday.they don't give non veg. But for vegetarian, there is less options. Only paneer in menu for every non veg days.

Infrastructure still needs to be improved a lot as students forced to line in a 5 bedded sharing rooms where it becomes very difficult for a student to follow their own routine and along with hostels the facilities are also not that top notch

Hostel Facilities:

As NIT Sikkim is still operating from a temporary campus, hostel facilities are not as per the other NITs, Students are forced to live in a 5 bedded sharing rooms, where 5 table, 5 chairs, 5 almirahs, 5 beds are provided for each students but it becomes very tough to follow the individual routine. Mess food quality is poor and the only reason institute state is RAVANGALA IS VERY REMOTE LOCATION.

Dislikes

Less space available and small campus due to which less number of rooms.

Hostel Facilities:

The room is less spacious with sharing of 5 people. Also no one who is hostellar can take outside the room from the campus. The quality of meal is average with various dishes like idli, uttpam also. There is a mess committee also which manages the quality of mess food nd other things.

The hostels are very congested and we dont get place to sit on a table and study.

Hostel Facilities:

nit Sikkim have 4-5 hostels for boys 3 hostels for girls there 3 to 4 student live in each room they give table bed chair for study and live thier cleanness is everywhere so hostel point of view its satisfactory but there is a problem with mess always students complaining about food quality so the mess is not much good but due to hillly area its good yaar because of limited source

Do not come here with too many expectations because you are most likely to get disappointed. My friend is currently in 3rd year of B.Tech at NIT Sikkim, and according to his first-hand experience, the hostel scenario is as follows:

BOYS HOSTEL

Firstly, the boys' hostels are located outside the campus, about 2 km away from the campus.
There are 3 hostel buildings namely BH-11, BH-12, and BH-13. You will be allotted a room with about 2,3 or a maximum of 4 people to share.
Although attached bathrooms for each room are a big plus point, you won’t get any wi-fi facility in any of the hostels.
No matter which hostel you belong to, you will have a common recreation room with TV, TT, carom, etc., and a common mess as well.
Water and electricity issues are persistent.

GIRLS HOSTEL

In terms of girls hostels, they are located inside the campus which is a huge plus point.
The rooms are bigger in size and have attached bathrooms. However, one room is to be shared by 5 girls.
The mess facility is also separate for all hostels. Also, you will be provided with a wi-fi connection, unlike the boys' hostels.
There are no issues related to water and electricity shortage.

The hostels might not be the best in terms of infrastructure or facility, it all boils down to the memories you make during your journey. However, if hostel facilities are your topmost priority, then NIT Sikkim is not the place for you.
