As per recent placement drive, the overall placement percentage was 75.37. The highest package offered was INR 44 LPA, while the package was INR 11 LPA.

A very honest review of NIT SIKKIM

Placement Experience:

Placement is overall good here. Students from ece/eee are better placed than cse here. Here, companies like nvedia, apple has given the highest package. Previous year highest package is 55 lakh ,which had given to two students from eee branch. This year highest package is 35 lakh . Which is offered by two students. Now ,I am concluding all branch avg and placement percentage - Civil -70%placed Mechanical- 100% placed Eee-92% Ece-90% Cse/ai- 80% Overall -86% Average - 8.85 lpa Median-7.5 lpa Highest -35 lpa

Placement Experience:

If you are capable enough you will be getting decent placements, Overall placement statistics lies about 80-90% with an average pacakage of 9-10 lacs per annum including 90-95% for CSE, ECE. EEE and almost 80-85% for core branches like Mechanical and Civil. Some of major past recruiters are CDAC, CDOT, BEL, VEDANTA, DELOITTE, MAHINDRA, MARUTI SUZUKI, UKG, GENPACT, BPCL, L&T, ALSTOM, NVIDIA, MICROSOFT, SLB, TERADATA, CGI and many others. Highest pacakage for the batch of 2023-24 was 44 LPA by NVIDIA and average was around 9.95 LPA. From start of the 7th semesters , the students can register themselves for placements and from 5th semester onwards student can register themselves for internship opputunities. NIT Sikkim also provide opportunities of highes studies like PhD from reputed institutes like IIT Hyderabad, IIT Delhi and some other prominent institutions as well.

Placement Experience:

From 5 th semester student can apply for internships and after 6th semester they can apply for placements. The average package is 7 lakh per annum and highest is based upon recession and market structure. Last year one senior got 44 lpa package from Nivida.

Students become eligible from 7th sem and placement was good before but In this 2024 batch it's the worst placement of all time only 58% students got placement with less package because of recession Im looking for a placement and further plan is to work for a company

Placement Experience:

After 5th semester, the college has on-campus internship options and after during 7th semester, you will be eligible to sit for campus placements. Many companies come for campus placement including IBM, NVIDIA, Deloitte, etc. PLacements for CSE, ECE, and EEE are very good. In 2023 highest placement was from EEE of 44 lakhs from NVIDIA. In Mechanical most of the students get PPO. For Civil, very least options are available. Usually, 80% of students get placed every year.

Great academic experience

Placement Experience:

The placement is our University was around 90%. Although cs and ece are beneficial for internships since many firms visit our institution for cs and ece, there is an issue with core branch internships: out of 30 students, only around 5-6 acquire an internship. If you want a work placement in core branch, you need master certain coding subjects and apply.

The chances of a good placement are higher after doing masters, and that’s the reason why each year nearly 60% of the students go for a master’s course and rest 40% are placed from the mechanical branch placement cell. During my time the highest offered package was of 10LPA while the lowest was 6LPA. I am currently pursuing M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

The placement committee members are professional and have good industrial experiences so they were able to invite more than 75+ companies for the placement drive of the college. The college was able to maintain a record of 100% placement. The college's highest placement offers goes up to 18 LPA and the average salary offers range around 10 LPA.

Being a national institute of importance, NIT Sikkim has grown in terms of its recruitment and placement services. While the website mentions that the placement statistics for the 2014-17 batch was nearly 103%, according to that number the placement rate surpasses even IIT Bombay, which is questionable.

The actual rate of placement has been observed to be around 60% where a majority of these placements are bagged through drive or pooling. Because of this factor, relatively fewer companies visit the campus for recruitments.

Based on different branches, let us look at the placements specifically:

CSE: Over 80% of students are placed but the average median salary is quite low, around INR 6 LPA. Only a few students get the opportunity to be recruited by MNC’s. Some of the main recruiters are Bosch and IBM.
Electronics Engineering: The faculty is really good and more than 90% of students are placed with the highest CTC of 12 LPA.
Mechanical Engineering: Popular for its labs and experienced faculty members, this branch observes a comparatively low placement rate since very few companies visit for the mechanical field. The main recruiters are Denso and Intel.
Civil Engineering: While the course is well-designed, the placements for this branch are not up to the mark. Although nearly 70% of students are placed, the companies are not MNC’s or reputed. Most students are simply offered internships along with the NIT degree.
Electronics and Communication: The placements within this branch are excellent, considering top companies like L&T, Infosys, Intel, Tech Mahindra are all part of the recruitment drive. Nearly 90% of students are placed with the highest CTC of 17 LPA.

The university does have great faculty members who provide students with a good teaching experience.

To conclude, it is preferable to take admissions only if you are a dropper. Else, it is always better to appear for JEE Mains again and get a better ranking.

I completed my BTech CSE from NIT Manipur in 2021. NITs consistently perform well in terms of placements. NITs fees are much lower compared to SRMIST and other private engineering colleges.

NIT Manipur has the best placement figures among the three NITs. As per NIRF 2023 Engineering Ranking, NIT Manipur ranks 95th, while NIT Sikkim ranks in the 151-200 bracket.

NITs are “Institutes of National Importance''. NITs are government colleges. They come next in line to IITs for their high brand value. Though SRM Chennai is a well-known college, it does not carry the same reputation as the IITs and NITs. Due to these factors, I had decided to pursue BTech CSE from NIT Manipur.

Which is better in terms of placement, NIT Sikkim or NIT Mizoram?

Both the National Institute Of Technology Sikkim and National Institute Of Technology Mizoram has good placement. I have a few friends from both institutes, and I was able to get the placement information from them. Here are the recent placement highlights for both institutes.

Which is the better choice in terms of placements, NIT Silchar Civil or NIT Sikkim ECE?

It is difficult for me to say which department is better NIT Silchar Civil and NIT Sikkim ECE as both have their own strengths and weaknesses. I recommend researching both options and considering factors such as program curriculum, faculty, research opportunities, and job prospects before making a decision.

From what I know, ECE is a better branch than Civil in terms of job opportunities in India. However, if you consider the institutes, NIT Silchar is much better than NIT Sikkim. NIT Silchar Civil department has many experienced and qualified faculty. Usually, PSUs recruit the students of this branch, and the core jobs are limited.

I dont think you should choose NIT Sikkim ECE as it's a relatively new institute and hasn't established a strong rapport with the recruiters yet.

Ultimately, the decision depends on your personal preferences and career prospects.
