CU Punjab Course Admission 2025: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Criteria

Ans. The Central University of Punjab requires candidates to produce original documents and a self-attested copy of the same during admission. These documents include: 

• Two recent passport-sized photos.

• Class 10 & class 12 marksheets
• Graduation marksheet (for PG programmes)
• CUET Admit card and Score card
• Medical fitness certificate
• Category certificate (if applicable)
• Migration certificate (if any)
• Undertaking of gap year (if applicable)

Ans. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to Central University of Punjab is to have a bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) aggregate marks from a recognised university. However in case of M.Pharm, the minimum aggregate marks is 55% (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in B.Pharm from a recognised university.

Ans. Central University of Punjab has been accredited 'A+' grade by NAAC in 2023 and is ranked 100 in the 'University' category and 19 in 'Pharmacy' category in NIRF 2023. The university provides quality education at a reasonable fee and also offers several fellowships and scholarships. It also provides good placement opportunities to its students and in the year 2022, the Central University of Punjab reported a median salary of 3 LPA.

Ans. For admissions to all the postgraduate courses at Central University of Punjab, aspirants must have a valid score in CUET(PG). For M.Pharm, a valid score in CUET(PG) or GPAT is eligible for admission and for M.Tech, a valid score in GATE/CUET(PG)/CCMT is considered eligible. Whereas, for all other PG courses, CUET(PG) is mandatory for admissions.

Central University of Punjab offered only postgraduate courses till date. However, the university is all ready to launch its undergraduate courses for the first time in the academic year 2024-25. After 15 years of its establishment, the university is said to offer UG courses in the field of law, pharmacy, computer science, and education. 

Ans. International students who wish to seek admission at Central University of Punjab must meet the following conditions:

• Applicants must have a valid score in IELTS/TOEFL 
• All foreign students seeking admission must have a 'Student VISA' endorsed to this institution
• Applicants should submit a 300-word personal statement stating their reason for admission to Central University of Punjab and their purpose of study.

Ans. The fee structure for admission of foreign students at Central University of Punjab is mentioned below:

• Master's programme in Humanities: USD 1000 p.a.
• Master's programme in Sciences: USD 1200 p.a.
• PhD programmes: USD 1400 p.a.

Hostel accommodation is not included in above mentioned fees. Moreover, students from SAARC countries shall pay the same fees as Indian students. 

Ans. Students seeking admission at Central University of Punjab will have a counselling round before their admission. Only those candidates who had appeared for CUET will be considered for counselling. Aspirants must apply online for counselling as the application for admission/counselling is accepted only in online mode at the Central University of Punjab. In case a candidate doesn't apply online, they won't be considered for admission.

Ans. The intake capacity for PG courses at Central University of Punjab depends on the programme and specialisation chosen by the candidate. For M.Sc, the intake capacity is between 15-50 seats; for M.A, the total intake is between 10-45 seats; for MBA, it is 25 seats; for M.Com, it's 35 seats; 40 seats are available for LLM; 30 for MAJMC; 15 for M.Pharm; 24-30 for M.Tech; 40 for M.P.Ed; and 50 for M.Ed.

Ans. Hostel fees at Central University of Punjab shall be refunded if the candidates withdraw/cancel their hostel seat within 30 days of its allotment. The hostel fee will be refunded after deducting the first month fee. In case the candidates cancel their hostel seats after 30 days of its allotment, only hostel security money will be refunded to them. A pro-forma is to be submitted by the candidate for the refund of hostel fee.

Ans. The hostel fee at Central University of Punjab is quite reasonable. The total hostel charges to be deposited at the time of admission is INR 13,400 for general category and INR 6800 for SC/ST students. Additionally, the hostel fee per semester from second semester onwards will be INR 8400 for general category and INR 1800 for SC/ST students. It must also be noted that this fee does not include food/mess charges.

Ans. The 'Earn-while-you-learn' scheme of Central University of Punjab encourages the students to participate in part time jobs at the university. This gives students hands-on experience and prepares them for their future jobs. It also enables the students to earn a reasonable amount of money to meet their day-to-day expenses. 

Ans. The Central University of Punjab has a health care centre that provides general treatment, first aid, and referral services to its employees and students. A medical officer is appointed at this centre and medicines are available free of cost. It also provides emergency medical services like an ambulance with medical officers and supporting staff. 

Ans. The medium of instruction for all the programmes at the Central University of Punjab is English. However, for particular language courses, the medium of instruction is the language concerned. Candidates who join any programme at Central University of Punjab are also required to have English as a subject in their previous classes.

Ans. Multiple specialisations are offered in M.A. at the Central University of Punjab. The popular ones among these include M.A in education, journalism and mass communication, political science, English, Hindi, Punjabi, economics, sociology, history, geography, and psychology. All these specialisations have a total intake of 10-45 students. 

Ans. The Central University of Punjab is located in Ghudda village in the Bathinda district of Punjab. The nearest bus stop to the university is Ghudda Bus Stand, which is 2.3 kms away and the nearest railway station to the university is Bathinda Junction Railway Station which is 20 kms away. The university also has its bus that transports students and staff from the university campus to particular stops in the city.

Ans. The Central University of Punjab provides a Students' Financial Assistance Fund that grants loans to deserving students with weak economic backgrounds. In order to be eligible, the student must have 75% attendance and good standing academic performance. Students can use these funds for pursuing studies, payment of tuition/registration fee, for medical treatment, and for attending any seminars or conferences.

Ans. The Central University of Punjab has many collaborations with international and national institutions. The university has signed MoUs with these institutes to provide better opportunities to its students and to excel in various research programmes. Some of its major collaborations include University of Lille-Health and Law France; Worchester University, UK; King Mongkit's University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok; AIIMS Bathinda; Ministry of Education; Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore; etc.

Ans. The expected CUET(PG) cutoff at Central University of Punjab is 87 for M.Tech Cyber Security, 110 for M.Lib.I.Sc, 115 for MA Hindi and M.Tech Computer Science & Technology, and 117 for M.Sc Statistics. Candidates must note that CUET is mandatory for admission to any programme at Central University of Punjab. If candidates haven't appeared for CUET, their admission won't be considered.

Ans. The Central University of Punjab shall cancel offering a programme in case of any particular circumstance. For instance, if the response to any particular course or discipline is not adequate, the university may choose not to offer that particular course or discipline. In such cases, the decision of the university will be final and binding.
