NMIMS MBA Healthcare Management FAQs
Ques. Is NMAT or CAT required for admission to MBA Healthcare Management at NMIMS Mumbai?
Ans. No. Unlike the flagship MBA programme at NMIMS which requires NMAT, the MBA Healthcare Management programme has its own Written Aptitude Test (WAT) conducted by NMIMS SBM. There is no requirement to appear for CAT, NMAT, XAT, or any other national-level entrance exam. You simply register on the NMIMS website, pay Rs. 2,500, and appear for the WAT and Personal Interview at the Mumbai campus.
Ques. Can a non-medical graduate apply for this programme?
Ans. Yes, but with a condition. Non-medical graduates who have worked in the healthcare industry can apply, provided they have a minimum of 2 years of relevant healthcare sector work experience. Medical and paramedical graduates (MBBS, BDS, BPT, B.Pharm, Biotechnology, etc.) with at least 50% aggregate marks can apply directly without any work experience requirement.
Ques. What is the fee structure and are there any scholarships available?
Ans. The total tuition fee is Rs. 16,00,000 for the 2-year programme (Rs. 8,00,000 per year). The fees for Batch 2026 will be confirmed in the offer letter. NMIMS does not offer direct institutional scholarships for this programme. Students can explore the Mirae Asset Foundation scholarship (for need-cum-merit cases with family income below Rs. 8 Lakhs) and government schemes. Educational loans from nationalised banks are also an option.
Ques. How are placements for MBA Healthcare Management compared to the regular MBA at NMIMS?
Ans. The MBA Healthcare Management is a niche, domain-specific programme and placements are within the healthcare sector (hospitals, health insurance, consulting, pharma). The first batch achieved 100% placement with companies like PwC, EY, Apollo, and Nanavati. The median package is around Rs. 20 LPA. This is lower than the flagship MBA Core (average Rs. 25.13 LPA, highest Rs. 67.70 LPA), but the Healthcare Management programme is targeted at a specific sector and is ideal for those wanting to build a career in healthcare management rather than general management.
Ques. What is the batch size and how competitive is the admission process?
Ans. The intake capacity is 60 seats. The programme will commence only if a minimum of 10 eligible candidates are admitted. The selection is based on the Written Aptitude Test (60 marks), academic performance, work experience, and Personal Interview (50 marks). The process is less competitive than the flagship MBA (which has an acceptance rate of less than 1%), but the eligibility criteria are strict - you must have a healthcare-related background.
Ques. Is the internship mandatory and what kind of organisations offer internships?
Ans. Yes, the sixth trimester (14-16 weeks) is a dedicated practical residency/internship with healthcare-centric institutions. This is a compulsory part of the curriculum. Past internship partners have included prestigious organisations such as Apollo Hospitals, Nanavati Hospital, and BMJ. The internship is designed to provide real-world exposure to healthcare management and is a key differentiator of this programme.
