Ques. Is NPAT required for admission to BA (Indian Music) at NMIMS SoPA?
Ans. No. Admission to BA (Music - Indian Music) at SoPA is entirely through an audition process. Candidates must register online, upload a YouTube performance video of a Raga of their choice, and appear for a virtual audition. NPAT scores are not considered.
Ques. What is the difference between the Vocal and Sitar specializations at NMIMS SoPA?
Ans. Both Vocal and Sitar are specializations in Indian classical music. Vocal students focus on Hindustani classical vocal performance, while Sitar students focus on Sitar performance. The choice must be made at the time of registration and cannot be changed later (internal/stream transfers are not entertained).
Ques. Is there a scholarship available for BA (Indian Music) at NMIMS SoPA?
Ans. Yes. For Batch 2025, an institutional scholarship of Rs. 75,000 per year was available, reducing the net annual fee from Rs. 2,00,000 to Rs. 1,25,000. Scholarship details for Batch 2026 will be declared at the time of admission.

Ans. Graduates can pursue careers as professional performing artists (concerts, stage performances), music educators, studio musicians, music directors for films and TV, and music researchers. Ques. What is the format of the audition for BA Indian Music at NMIMS SoPA?
Ans. The audition is conducted in virtual mode and consists of: Performance (50 marks - 75% weightage, performing a Raga of choice assessed on accuracy, technique, and knowledge of Raga, Sur, and Taal), Aural test (25 marks - general musicology and technical knowledge), and Personal Interview (25 marks - 25% weightage, non-technical aptitude assessment). The merit list is based entirely on audition performance.
