IIT(ISM)DHANBAD College full review with exact details.

Likes

The college has a very large and lush green campus. Some hostels are very big and college also has an innovation centre for startups to grow. The campus life is decent, there are plenty of spots for snacking.
The support provided for career advancements is also pretty good. The infrastructure is good top notch the classes have smart boards and the labs are also well maintained.
The college has a pretty huge strength so there are alot of people to interact with. The professors are highly qualified with pdhs from top colleges and are always ready to help. The placement services are also pretty good for almost all branches.

Dislikes

The college has a little ragging problem which really needs to be improved. The hostel mess is really bad and certain hostels really need improvement.

Placement Experience:

Students start getting campus placements from the 7th semester but students can also get pre placement offers during internships that they can get from 6th semester. Microsoft, Google, Uber, Cognizant, Media.net, Ola, Pizza Hut such companies visited and total number of 628 offers were made. The highest package in the college was of 2cr, the average was 19 lpa. Profiles like SWE, SDE, JDE, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Product Manager were offered. Around 70% students got placed. My personal plans after getting a degree is to go for placements.

Reflection of my college journey

Likes

The culture of the college is very amazing
The sports and academic faculties as well as infrastructure is very good
Their intern and placement are also amazing

Dislikes

Categories based admission in the college

Placement Experience:

In semester 7 or 8 students become eligible for campus placement there will be about 150-200 companies visit our campus and about 700-800 offers are availed. There will be 80-90 percentage of students gets placed in our college.

IIT(ISM) Dhanabad is considered as one of the best IIT

Likes

The overall campus life with great infrastructure, faculties and fests
Placements here are great with average lpa of 15 lakh and highest 50 lakh
Academic faculties are well educated from top universities across the globe.

Dislikes

The campus doesn't have a lot of cafeterias and the main canteen is also small.
Our auditorium should atleast accommodate 10,000 people so that is something which needs to be changed.
The college should construct one more lecture hall to accommodate more students as only having one lecture halls create hassles during examinations

Placement Experience:

After you're 4th semester you can sit for internships provided by different companies. Career development centre (CDC) which is our placement cell helps really in this process. Based on interships. Companies often give PPOs to the students. Highest package was 58 lakh per annum with average pacakage of 15 lakh per annum. 90-95% successfully gets placed from our college

It's Worth It

Likes

First of all getting into the dream college is in itself the greatest thing about my college.
The environment is nice and friendly, the seniors and professors are really helpful .
The college being in the center of the city makes everything easily accessible.

Dislikes

All throughout the year we weren't allowed to take our parents to our hostel rooms.
On the first day we had to setup our room all by ourselves.
The lecture hall is very far from girls' hostel.

Placement Experience:

We are given internship oppurtunities by our college by 5th or 6th semester wherein few get PPOs. From 6th and 7th semester studenets become elligible for campus placements. Companoes like Barclays, Amazon, Bosch, Goldman Scahs, JP Morgan, Tata Steel, Cairn Oil and Gas etc. visit our institute for both placement and internship. Highest Package was around 60lacs in Computer Science and Engineering departement domestic. Average package is generally 18-19 lakhs. Every year the college has a good percentage of placements around 82-88 %.

Summary of B-Tech in IIT Dhanbad

Likes

This college have very experienced faculty in all branch.
This college has very good lab and instruments.

Placement Experience:

IIT(ISM) Dhanbad have a very good placement stats as of the latest 2024 average package is 16.45 Lakh/year which vary slightly every year .in 3rd Year students also get Internship oppurtunities which give a full on experience to the students.Students who are in 4th year are eligible for campus placement. there are many national and international companies hire student like Google , amazon and many more.Nearly 90% of students gets placements every year on campus .Some students take off campus also.My plan is to take a good package in my 4th year of Btech.

Inside IIT(ISM) Dhanbad

Likes

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has a lush green campus. That's why atmosphere inside campus is very good.
Arguably , it has Asia's 2nd largest library. Also, collection of books are very good.
Faculties and teacher assistants are helpful. If you are eager to learn you can fetch knowledge from them.

Dislikes

Curriculum is what I don't like here. Markings in some subjects are also not good and professors are very reluctant.
Manufacturing process subject has its written exam which i think is of no use as it is a practical subject.
Entrepreneurship culture is not so good as compared to other IIT's.

Placement Experience:

College of placements are decent. Final year students are eligible for on campus placements although we can apply for job off campus irrespective of year. Highest on campus package remains around 50 lpa and avg. package is around 15 lpa . Most of the big MNC's visit out college and offers good placements. Almost all students who apply for placements gets placed till the end of course. My plans are off campus high package placements.

IIT ISM College Review

IIT ISM has campus area of around 350 acres which is quite large. Roaming in the campus at Eve is very refreshing. Oval garden , heritage building is the pride of the college.
IIT ISM has two big grounds upper and lower ground for sports activities like cricket, football, hockey, athletics and other also. Student Activity Centre provides gym facility, tennis ground, and other indoor games.
Infrastructure of college is really impressive, the central library, institute innovation hub , central research facility, aquamarine hostel are some of the high buildings of the college.

Dislikes

There are a few things in the college about which I am not satisfied. Like coding culture of the college, like in the top IITs everyone start coding from 1st year , here this is not the case.
In the end most of the things you have to study from YouTube. I think that's why college lags in placements, here the oncampus highest placement is a around 60lpa while it goes in crores in other IITs
Here some teachers focus on grades not on actual knowledge. Here in college they want us to get marks like schools instead of focusing on things which are asked by companies in placements or internship.

Placement Experience:

The average package of the college is above 25 lakhs. Top companies like Google ,Amazon, Flipkart ,Goldman Sachs,Sprinkler, Wallmart, DE Shaw, Uber, American Express, Microsoft, and much more are invited to the college by carrier development centre of our college for internship and placements. Students can get internship from 2nd year of the college and based on their performance in company, they can get pre placement offer at the starting of final year. At the end of final year most of the students get placed in companies. Last year 140+ students out of 160 in CSE got placed in top MnCs. Highest package is of 1.3cpa , a ML student who got offcampus placement and lowest is 8 lpa. Some of the students after graduation goes for higher studies.

Life at ISM

Likes

The campus is friendly to everyone and welcomes everyone
Teaching system is very good and faculty is great
Class materials and attendance everything is shared through mis

Dislikes

The weather here is extremely cold or extremely hot
I wish there were air conditioning in lecture hall
The mess food could be better according to everyone’s need

I like the fests and Culture of our college and Some Places like Heritage buliding and Ruby park and Grounds , library which is Asias top 2nd Technical library
I like the College Environment and Friends and seniors I got herre ,who mentor and Tell the things what to do snd how to do
The mess food is not worst as I'm South Indian I was expecting Food not good but here it is Better

Dislikes

I didn't Like the Way of recruitment of Students in different clubs as They have talent they are unable to recruit in different clubs
Method of Teaching is not good as I expected in IITs

Placement Experience:

Placements are Good as it is IIT college it is obvious to have better placements but from last year. There is a drop in the Placement percentage globally, But in Our College, we have two sessions of Placements, in 1st session Our College Achieved some 40%, and 2nd the session it remained

Which one is better, IIT Dhanbad for ECE or IIT Bhubaneswar for electrical?

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 has seen 89% placement in the Civil Engineering Department with an average annual salary package of 11 lakhs per annum, 39 lakhs per annum being the highest. IIT Bhubaneswar has a total of 145 faculty members who are highly qualified and Ph.D. holders. IIT Bhubaneswar has 2 hostels for boys and girls each. It also has Shopping Complex, Healthcare centers, gym, Sports grounds and courts, Common rooms, Media entertainment rooms, ATMs, etc.

Thus, IIT Dhanbad will be a better option to study ECE than Electrical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar because, Being one of the oldest established IITs, IIT Dhanbad is known for its quality of education and their campus life. It also has better and more experienced faculty members.
