Remarks

Positive remarks are like it's improving day by day. Placement scenario is going good. The negative remarks is that as it is a part of North East there is a connectivity issue. But trains starting to go and there is an airport too. But it is also the second best engineering college after IIT Guwahati in North East

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is little bit on the tougher side. Everywhere in India, electrical engineering is the toughest among all other branches The exam structure is like we have two exams mid semester and end semester where the former is of 30 marks and later is of 50 marks and 20 marks internal.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement and job opportunities is good. As it is nit so the companies do come here to recruit. The average package is around 10lpa. Where as the internship offers are for 3rd year student. Companies gave a stipend upto 1 lac per month.

College Events

4.5

There are three major events celebrated each year in our college. One is tech fest - Tecnoesis. The second most famous tech fest of North East India. Other is cultural fest - Incandescene which is also very much enjoyable and many Bollywood celebrity came and perform. The third is Posua which is for the local assam people. Other events also happen in the college

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is very much feasible. As it is an nit so it has a schematic structure for fees structure. There is fee waiver depends on the parent income. I have to pay around 45k which includes hostel mess and fees for college.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship are provided to student who got a good pointer. Other than that there is a fee waiver option depends on parent income. Loan facility is also available by different banks with some feasible interest rate.

Campus Life

4.5

There are many labs for many department. There are many sports ground like football ground, cricket ground in the college as well as in the hostel too.there are many clubs in the college. Auditorium is also there for drama practicing

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel infrastructure is good. Mess facilities, Tv room, sports room and good spacious room is there. And it is also very cheaper. There are single rooms, double rooms and triple rooms. There are 10 hostels in our campus.

Alumni/Alumna

Each year there is an alumni visit in our campus. And there is a great discussion among current students and the alumni. Senior students also keep in touch with the juniors and assist them by doing project together.

Admission

I got 24k rank in jee main and thus got this college through Jossa admission process. I have a list of nit Or iiit in which I can apply but for my rank i think this is the best college i got admitted. My jee advance rank is also 13372 but in general category you can only get admission upto 10k rank. So i opt for getting into an Nit.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is good. Some are awesome while some are average. They all have done their higher studies from good IITs and NITs. They also have a good manner of teaching and their behavior is also good with students.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
