Your Average Guy's College Experience

The curriculum followed is still very old and rigid. It does not incukde aspects of gaining practical knowledge and skill whatsoever. However it does provide a strong theoretical foundation that is required at the college level but i dont think that really affects the rate of employability in the current times.

Students regularly get employment through campus placements. It generally starts in the third year. Companies like Bain, Deloitte, KPMG, etc visit the college and provide students with offers. The highest package of last year was around 21 LPA and on average students get offered with 8-10 LPA.

I paid around 22k for my first year. Seniors say it will increase by a few thousands for the upcoming years. I dont think the fee varies with category, i might be wrong as well. My batchmates paid around the same according to my knowledge. The college provides scholarship for students who are eligble through a certain criteria.

The college's annual fest - Nexus, is held around February every year. It is one of the most popular fest's in the entire DU. There are a lot of books available in the library and is very accessible to students. There are a lot of societies in the college specialising in every aspect of the real world. It's really fun being a part of such societies.

I got accepted into Christ Uni (Yeshwanthpur Campus) and Loyola College Chennai. I chose SVC as Loyola did not have a hons course in commerce and I did not get into the Cental Campus in Christ. You have to apply for CUET to get admitted into Delhi University. For popular courses like Bcom Hons and Pol Sci Hons, the cut offs are soaring high. It is a oretty simple process looking at it now but during then I had all sorts of difficulties.

Most faculty are approachable and the really encourage us to ask doubts during the class. The student to faculty ratio is also pretty good. We have internal tests around the mid semester time and a semester exam at the end of the semester. Most of the stduents manage to pass it as the exam pattern usually follow the PYQ.

The college is really close to Satya Niketan, an area for students. It hosts a lot of PGs for students, cafes, popular restaurant chains, pharmacies etc. You will find everything required for a student there. It's really safe to roam around in the night as the entire area is filled with students. You'll find people roaming around almost everytime.
