Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am interested in accounting and finance and hence I chose b.com(hons.). The curriculum is not as per expectations as a lot of focus is on theory rather than on practical knowledge but still it is somewhat helpful in understanding the concepts.

Internships Opportunities

4

Top companies like De Shaw, KPMG, Deloitte, PWC, and others come to college for various internships for different positions like marketing intern, research intern and others. Placement cell stays active bringing in as many companies for internships and placements as possible.

Placement Experience

4

Placement cell is good and effective. It continuously provides multiple internship opportunities for students of different courses. Package goes as high as 30 LPA and average salary is around 4-5 lpa.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for Bachelor of commerce honours in Sri Venkateswara College for general category is Rs. 22855. Fees remains the same year after year. Various scholarships are available like merit cum means, scholarships for girl child, sc,st and other low income groups.

Campus Life

4

The annual event of SVC is Nexus which is held on a massive scale and along with it different societies also have their annual events. These events are usually held around February and March and students from different DU colleges enjoy these fests. There are multiple societies within the college like Enactus, Empathise, Effulgence etc. Sports and extra curricular are also active.

Admission

I wanted to get into North Campus college like SRCC, Hindu and Hansraj but couldn't because of CUET english. But I had put SVC above other north campus colleges because of its image and good crowd. The admission in my college is through CUET and cut off go to about 900-1000 ranks.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is around 1:20. The faculty for commerce courses is good and dedicated. There are end semester exams and internal tests for different subjects. Course curriculum is alright but not exactly as per expectations.

Night Life

5

Maggi point is a famous hangout place inside the college. In winters students can be seen taking sunlight in the ground. Satya Niketan is near the college which has various cafes and is a hangout place for many. There's open gym in the college and library offers large collection of books.

The placement opportunities in my college are limited. Full fledged campus placements are not offered for most of ug courses. Usually the students become eligible in their final years for placements. My plans after completing course is to give rbi banking exam.

many reputable companies come to our college to recruit potential candidates during the placements time. companies like EY, Bain, etc. come during the placement season. even if students are not able to find on campus placements, the skills and education of university of delhi leaves students with enough credibility to find placements on their own.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum is well structured and relevant, core subjects along skill based modules, i suggest that upgrade the quality of education with a help desk for students with a online teacher. the frequency and timing of the exams are balanced allowing sufficient time for preparation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It was more my existing stream than the curriculum that made me choose this course. It doesn't give me a kickstart to my future career goals but it was the most secure and relevant one. There should be more real world exposure and teaching technique rather than the century old laid out theory practices. The frequecy of exams is somewhat suitable as per the subjects per semester.
