Course Curriculum Overview

4

My course requires a lot of analytical and logical thinking. The scope is quite wide in my course without having any professional degree too like research, analytics, finance manager etc. This course gives opportunity to gain applied skills and as we are dealing with quantitaive aspects our statistics also gets better with time. Few improvements which i would like suggest are that their should more practical and real life knowledge, currently it is very theoritically heavy. Teaching online softwares must be compulsoury so that we remain updated with technology.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of my college for the first year for B.a (H) Economics is just 15741 Rupees. It is the cheapest among all universities in india. Finanacial assistance is also provided by the collge in case if someone is unable to pay. The fees does not increase at all, however small hikes which are usually below 100 rupees are made which is not an issue at all.

Campus Life

5

My overall experienece has been fantastic, the campus infrastructure is awesome and does the job very well. Fests which are held in my colleges are chimaera, sabrang and ecozest. The library has a vast variety and you can issue them easily through your id card for 14 days, after 14 days you can re issue it. This process makes the books more accessible. We have a computer lab in our building which has massive seating capacity of 150students, the whole campus is under cctv surveillance. Their many sports club for basketball, table tennis, badminton etc, I might have missed few names too. Our college have a NCC society too which has all three wings. Societies like MARKSOC, ECELL, CYFLE, ENACTUS are great societies run by students which contribute a lot in college works and help students to gain exposure, work experience and building healthy relations with seniors and juniors

Admission

The NIRF ranking at the time admission was 16th among all collges in india. It is the nearest college of DU from my house. Heard lot from people and reviews presented to me were great. I would like to compare my college with Ramanujan College which is adjacent to my college, Deshbandhu offers more variety of courses, extra subjects to students. Nirf ranking also plays an important role too. Library of deshbandhu is quite vast and have good collection of all types of books. Ramanujan college is ranked 37 in NIRF. The admission process of the college was extremely simple, My cuet cutoff was cleared by the college and same day after document verification i got admission in my college.

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is okay due to population of our country. There are 7 teacher for 85 students for 7 subject, however many students dont attend classes regularly. So it does not become a task to them. Although they are well trained and educated in all field. Each teacher is readily available also to solve our doubts even after our class gets over. Quick replies through text messages makes more easier to connect with them. Jitender Kumar, he replies timely and supports us in class by motivating and encouraging us during our tough college times. Every faculty member is their is help and teach us. We respect all our teachers and not dislike them.

Night Life

5

There are two cafeterias in our campus which serves cost friendly, hygienic and delicious food to us. I have never had any nightlife opportunity to visit college, but i am sure it will be as amazing as in day. CCTV surveilence makes it more secure to visit, I am sure guards are always there in campus. Outside campuse there is a huge market selling different items. The college is located in kalkaji which one the safest place in delhi at night also. Campus is open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Other Applied Colleges

Deshbandhu College | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] {Hons.}

I was more interested in Eco (H) as it has more scope and had better rank in it

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
