MDI, Gurgaon - a Solid 4 Star B-School

I am finding the subjects taught to be again, similar to all the top B-schools across the nation and the curriculum is well and standardly structured. Application part is slim to none, but case method of pedagogy is pretty intuitive.

They are good, with top companies visiting MDI for placements and the 40 year alumni base across the world is also beikg leveraged. Student driven process also makes the process robust and dynamic. My plans after degree are to work for 5 years in equity research and then open my own business.

I think the fees of every MBA college has increased along with its batch size. This is disappointing, considering the fact that the job market has been abysmal. The fee hike for the 2 years (incl. hostel+food) @ MDI has been approx 1 lakh rupees. While I am unaware of the exact scholarship claiming avenues available at MDI, I think need-based scholarships are available here and on other sources. I think that the fees across HR and PGDM is the same, while PGDM IB is costly, with the iverall wxpenses lying between 40-45 lakhs range.

Campus Life is great, girls are allowed a lot of freedom inside the campus. We have food and beverages available on the campus until 4am. Medical facilities are available. All the standard indoor and outdoor sports available, along with gym facility. 20+ student run clubs and committees. Library and reading rooms + labs available 24x7. Hostel rooms are comfortable and A/C is available 24x7. Cleaners also do a good job and don't ask for money to clean the rooms.

Hostel facility is bettwr rhan your standard. Some hostels are a lot better than others, but none is perfect. You have your standard facilities: 1. Laundry+dry cleaning available - standard quality. 2. AC 24x7 3. Hot bathing water. 4. Kent RO water dispenser. 5. Soap dispensers with soap refilled (no need to purchase liquid soap separately) 6. Cleaning person for rooms and floor. 7. Double sharing Major missing facilities: 1. No washing machines. 2. No hot drinking water. 3. No self ironing setup/ironing machines not allowed.

Since my CAT percentile was quite less, 96, and being from a top NIT, I wanted to get into a B-School which could complement my NIT tag, while my fream was a tier - 1 college, my percentile shut all doors. Hence, with an interest in fin, I joined the best new IIM for Fin - IIM Tiruchirappalli. There I found the batch size to have increased by about more than 30% to 522. Given the job market, the situation was frightening and I wanted to leave, MDI gave me that chance. The people here are from every spectrum: 94 to 99.7 percentilers, all can be found here. The batch size is also fine and the placements are better.

The marking scheme and faculty are of standard quality, as found across all the B-Schools. There is a major complaint about our classrooms though, and that is, the fact that there's no laptop charging ports available.

Yes there was GD and WAT. WAT followed by GD topic - "Should government bail out companies?" PI: 1. TMAY 2. Why'd you leave your job? 3. Specialisation of interest? 4. Specialisation based questions. 5. Workex based questions.

People like to hang out near change masters mess, the Mom's Cube, Nescafe and the Sharma Ji Cafe. For studies and group assignments, Computer Lab and library are available. Usually students aren't allowed to elave the campus late at night (after 11pm), until exempt. Outside the campus, there's nothing much I've personally explored, but rhe Mehrauli market place is decent for basic shopping of room supplies.
