MDI, Gurgaon Review

I was offered NMIMS, Symbiosis, and some new IIMs. MDI is considered as the top among these colleges, given that it is one of the best colleges in India as it provides leadership skills and great placements.

It is a trimester and there will be about 10 subjects per semester. There will be 2-3 lectures per week on one subject. You will be given some projects which have to present either as a PowerPoint presentation or report. We have to present it at the end of the last lecture. There will be a week term and then an end term exams. It is a trimester, so your semester will be of 2 and a half months. After one and a half months there will be a midterm. One month after the mid-term exams, we will have the end-term exams. Both are subjective exams. Marks of both the papers vary and depend on the faculty. The syllabus is vast and the levels of both the exams are difficult. Before midterms, the lectures end on Fridays and midterms start on Monday, so you don?Ûªt have much time to study.

The start of summer placements happens in the second semester i.e two-three months after joining the college and your CV will be checked thoroughly. Companies come first and they share and go through their companies profile for 1-2 weeks like what they can offer to a student. After that, we can apply for whatever position we want, and later interviews will be held for the same if your CV is shortlisted.

The college has tie-ups with almost all the banks like SBI, HDFC. When you ask for a loan in any bank in Gurgaon, then the bank already has a list of the colleges which also include MDI Thus, the loan can be easily availed. The fee structure of International Business is 24 Lakhs. One year we study in Gurgaon and the other year we move to some European countries; it's part of the course. When you are living in Europe for one year, then all the food and hostel expenses aren't included in 24 Lakhs. The expense in Europe is about 7 Lakhs. So, the total fee becomes up to 30 Lakhs. But if you get a good internship in Europe then the expenses incur over there can be covered.

There were some platforms like Whatsapp, Google Meet, and Zoom. On the first day, you will be divided into some groups. A group contains generally 5 people. You will be given a lot of projects. You will have daily meetings with all other colleagues of your team. We can participate in all the extracurricular activities. We can join clubs and committees. There are more than 15 clubs and committees. We can also connect with the seniors. There is also a one-week induction class for you. Your seniors conduct that.

There was no GD at my time. For an interview, you should be prepared for common questions like why MBA, tell us about yourself, what are your hobbies, what are you passionate about, what are your strengths and weaknesses. These are general questions that will be asked. You should be thorough with your work experience; what were your actual work, roles, and responsibilities. They also vary their questions according to the work experience. If you are from IT fields, then there will be factual questions like top IT companies and what other technical roles the company offered.
