An Experience worth living at MDI, Gurgaon

Good - Diverse course structure, a curriculum is precise and dynamic, experienced faculty. Bad - Less focus on campus activities, exchange program needs to be course specific.

I gave the CAT exam for the admissions process at MDI, Gurgaon. My CAT percentile was 97 and it was really a tough phase for me as I was already pursuing an internship right after my graduation. I chose this course as I wanted to gain managerial experience in a very diversified manner as the faculty and course structure of MDI is diverse ranging from IIM to ISB. The course structure is much different(positive manner) compared to other institutes in India. The interview process is not as complicated as it seems, they asked me only general questions regarding my interests, hobbies and all. You don't need to be a management jargon to crack the interview. Confidence and clarity of words is the key here.

The courses are designed with the help of case studies which facilitates peer learning, the most important part of MBA. Most of the teachers are well experienced from IIM and ISB. The whole academic year is a bit rigorous with significant importance to class quizzes and class participation.

Yes, it does but I didn't opt for any. The stipend depends upon the firm you are working in and has nothing to do with the institute as per my knowledge. However, there may be some tie ups in which the stipend is provided by MDI.

The summer placements are very good in terms of sector and salary. Consulting and Marketing remain the most desired fields and an increase in the roles in finance area has been seen in the year 2017. Placements are getting better in the upcoming years due to increase in the number of diverse companies and their sectors.

Many events like case study competition from different companies and institutes are organized here which have been a very good experience for us students. The marketing club here organized the event "brand factory" in which hundreds of students from different parts of the country participate here and showcase their unique marketing skills. Both, for the MDI students as well as participants outside the campus, this has been a very enriching experience for them.

The fees for 2015- 2017 batch for MDI Gurgaon was around 18 lacs, which includes hostel and mess fees. You can check the fees structure at the official website as it changes from time to time and you can check the current fee structure there. Fees structure is feasible as compared to other colleges and the kind of pay packages you get starting from around 10 lacs.

MDI offers 5 scholarships of 10,000 to the toppers. Apart from that you also can apply for separate scholarships which are funded by IFCI. These scholarships reduce the financial pressure of the students to a great extent. For loans, there is an SBI scholar loan scheme which financially helps students to pursue MBA from premier institutions including MDI.

The lifer at MDI depends on how you make it and invest yourself. It is said that no one sleeps at MDI, which means life is very exciting and enriching. There are many clubs here for extracurricular activities such as drama club, sports club, dance club, marketing club etc which caters to the needs of every student. Gender ratio here is very good and as the class profile is very diverse there are students here from different states, regions, and languages.

there are 4 hostels, 1 for girls and boys of both first and second-year students. The rooms are well maintained, are hygienic, mess food is homelike and is healthy for the students. The janitors here very friendly and there's no issue as such here. Food quality is very high and has been supervised for years here.

Alumni network is very strong and helpful. Day to day alumni events are organised here which is very helpful for the freshers to enhance their contacts and get some experience.

Exams are not very frequent but the random surprise quizzes after or mid classes tend to be hectic and one has to have that mindset before going for the classes that personal plans and all may get affected because of this. Overall, life is good here after the classes and quizzes and you get to meet different types of people here and relax at the cafeteria.

Application can be availed online directly from the website of MDI around 2nd week of November. The management of the institute is good and I dont't think there are any issues in administration. You may get assisted by some students there and even if you don't get any assistance, the admission process is done smoothly and can be completed in a few hours. The staff at the offices are generally friendly and you won't have any issues here.
