Course Curriculum Overview
Some subjects in your first year may feel irrelevant and sometimes they are. But most of them provide a better understanding for your own course. In second year you will branch out into your chosen courses and study more indepth topics. For the most part, the course stays on track and remains relevant but some courses are very outdated and could use some improvement as they follow very old standards and teaching methods
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees for the first year is 497000 (all inclusive) it is varies from year to year. Whether it increases of decreases depends on the year as for the 2nd year it is slightly lower but may be higher for the 3rd year. Manipal has no managament quota and seats are reserved instead for Sc/St students or NRI category students. Scholarships are also available depending on first year CGPA or your rank in the entrance exam. Students can avail anywhere between 15% waiver in course fees all the way upto a free ride scholarship. Requirements for continuation of scholarship throughout each year is a minimum CGPA of 8.0.
Campus Life
Our college has 2 main fests , Tech Tatva (a tech fest) conducted in the odd semesters usually in october for 4 days and also Revels (a cultural fest) conducted in the even semesters usually towards the end of feb or beginning of march for 4 days. The college has many student clubs, organizations and projects for all kinds of things which students can join to socialize or learn. There is a football team, basketball team, tennis team, badminton team swimming team, athletics team etc all of which have tryouts to get selected.
Admission
I applied for PES and VIT besides manipal and was able to secure a seat in both of them but chose MIT over these colleges because it is more credible and from research provides better packages, courses and options. I also applied for BITS but was rejected due to my insufficient BITSAT scores. Admission process in MIT is relatively simple and depends on your MET rank. After your MET 3 to 4 rounds of counselling are conducted where you will be allowed to choose a branch of your choice depending on your rank and payment must be done upfront
Faculty
For first year students a teacher guardian is provided for every 20 students who makes sure they have a fulfilling, safe and productive year. They are very approachable and help students with academic and personal issues. 1st year is a common year for all courses where everyone studies the same subject. Relative grading is employed and a student is graded out of 100 marks where 20 is from internal assessments, 30 is for mid sem examinations and 50 is from end sem examinations for all theory courses. Lab courses are structured similarly with an execution as your lab exam.
