- The courses might be considered difficult if you are to target more than 9 CGPA.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is modified according to the feedback provided. So things like spring and node are included in the curriculum. I would say the currciculum is a good mix of older and newer things. New things are gradually incorporated with the help of past students.
Internships Opportunities
There a lot of internship opportunities here. You can approach any professor if you are interested in some research work early, or you can sit for campus internship placements during you 3rd year. A lot of companies ranging from Google to DE Shaw come here for interns.
Placement Experience
There are two levels at which placements happen, one is the internship placements and another is the full time placements. You ar eeligible for intern placements from 3rd year and for full time placaments from 4th year as it is the norm all around India. In the CSE program almost all get placed. The average CTC is around 20 lakhs per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid 2500 Rs. per year for the course. It is extremely cheap when you compare it to other universities today. There are different scholarships for which you have to apply to the university, the details can be found after joining, but most don't need a scholarship due to the low fees.
Campus Life
The overall campus life is excellent, you get to take part in club events. There are many many clubs here, ranging from code clubs to the mountaneering clubs. There are fests happening all year. Both technical and cultural. You might hear a lot of JU campus in the news, but the campus in itself is good and friendly, the same can not however be said about the hostel, although situtions are getting better day by day.
Admission
I had got chance in IIT Indore and some top NITs like Calicut, Shibpur, etc. But I chose JU for its much higher placement statistics and lower fees with its strategic location in the heart of Kolkata where I live.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is not that low as of now. You get enough classes to complete the syllabus. The professors are approachable and they help you out with eveything. However the teaching methods are pretty old-fashoined and so is the currciculum but is open to change based on feedbacks.
Night Life
You can go to the famous canteens of JU and enjoy a cup of coffee with you friends. There's this place called green zone where quite taleneted singer students gather and it's and excellent ambience. However it is not recommeded to be wasting a lot of time on the night life because the course might get tough and you might need to read a lot.
