Likes
- The thing that I like the most is the return on investment (ROI) which is Highest in India and my dept. is CSE which holds the best ROI among all branches.
- Then comes the attendance policy, in JU we don't have strict 75% attendance policy . 45-50% is good to go.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure isn't good , as it's a state govt. college the infrastructure is not as par with IITs or NITs.
- The campus is very small (56acres the main campus) and there's not much of facilities inside the campus.also the campus isn't too clean.
Fees and Financial Aid:
After clearing WBJEE, we generally get Jadavpur University (JU), for the counseling we need to pay Rs500 which we pay to WBJEE Board , then the seat Acceptance fee is Rs5000 , this covers the two years fees. When we are taking the final admission then we need to pay Rs710 for all branches expect Information Technology which is nearly Rs25000. In 3rd , 4th year we need to pay tution fees of 2400 and that's it ... it's the same for all students SC,ST and there's no management quota. Jadavpur University provides various scholarships, but as the fees are minimal those are generally hidden ... but scholarship such as SVMCM ,OASIS are few of them ... JU also providee need and merit based scholarships to students.

it is govt university , there is no high addmition charge or fee. here tution fee nine hundread , session fee fifty rupee, lab and workshop fee one thousend five hundread rupee, addmitio n fee 100, registration fee 25,library fee 50,caution deposite 25, health card 15 and sports fee 100.

- Attendance Policy . There is no such attendance policy here and you can come anytime in campus , no such restiction is there , you have a lot of free time so u can do coding or prepare for gate
- Flexibility to choose exam dates yes semester date as well as we like . So we cab have 2-3 days break per semester exam , so there will not be situation to wake up nights on coffee
Dislikes
- Old school way of teaching , no lab instrument is good
- Quite bad classroom facility no smart board are there
Fees and Financial Aid:
The tuition fee is much less, it is negligible thanks to the student union for it, I mean 2500 per year except IT department, where fees are 30,000 per year, Scholarships are provided, and the SVMCM scholarship is available, 60000 per year.

- Placements are good. The placement coordinators are selected among the students which makes it easier for us to reach out to CPC
- There are ample research opportunities. There are many well renowned professors under whom you can research
Dislikes
- The infrastructure and labs are not like NITs or IITs
- While there are very good professors. Many professors also send Research Scholars to teach, who are not that good
Fees and Financial Aid:
For the first two years the fee is taken during admission. For the next two years i.e. 5th to 8th semester you have to pay the fees which is around 6k for the remaining 4 semesters. There are plenty of scholarships available for students who are not able to pay the fees. The college even promotes other scholarships to aid the students

- The campus is big enough there is playgrounds and the campus is also clean enough.
- There are a lot of cultural programs regularly.
Dislikes
- I actually don't like the politics in my campus.
- There are grouping among students on the basis of politics.

Actually I am in my 1st year ending thus I donot know much about these but as per as I know the on campus placement is very good in my college and there is no extra charges as it is a government college.
Likes
- The campus is very beautiful. There are many trees and field and also lakes in campus
- There are separate buildings for separate engineering courses and you get many advantages of that.
Dislikes
- One thing is the campus is not too clean .
- There are many buildings which are getting old but University don't repair that.
Fees and Financial Aid:
So first of all you have to give 5000 rupees to lock your seat and then at the admission process you have to give only 700 rupees. And it is the total fees of 2 years. After 4th semester you have to pay around 5000 rupees for next two years . Also if you came form a poor family and get good rank in Wbjee , there is a system of TFW for you. In this you have to pay 0 rupees and you get education in free. Basically I came form a middle class family and my father do government job so I can't get scholarship scholarship. But I know that there is a scholarship where in every month you can get 5000 rupees . I am in 1st year so I don't know very deeply about job roles , responsibility etc.

- The Affordability of this course, making income not a factor to pursue your education
- The amount of freedom of expression you get in this college and the student union's support is very strong.
Dislikes
- Lack of proper infrastructure, outdated equipments, and lack of funding.
- Too much political involvement of student might divert one from their original goal.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The cost of studying here is EXTREMELY low and this University has the BEST return on investment among all engineering colleges of India. Only 12k fees for 4 years (for non-IT courses) makes this course accessible for everyone where other institutions take lakhs and lakhs of fees.

- Placements of the university and the avarage CTC.
- Faculties are very good. And we have very good student teacher relationship here
Dislikes
- The infrastructure can be better here. It is not as expected.
- The life of city is not tolerable for a student who passed his school life in his village home.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The Jadavpur University is well known for the cheep fees. The return of investment here surpasses top IITs in the country. Also the hostels are very cheep here. Students get government as well as non government scholarships .

- The students: The students around you are highly talented and also helpful also fun to be around
- The culture: The culture is very rich and diverse
Dislikes
- Faculty:Not all the faculties are good and there are some who don't put any efforts
- The infrastructure: The buildings are not very good and also labs don't have all the equipments that work properly
Fees and Financial Aid:
The course fees of all the branches of engineering with the exception of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is very minimal.The 4 year course fee is around 10k to 12k . But the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY course fee is very high as compared to other.It is around 19k per semester and we have 8 semesters.
Likes
- It has a cheap store in which we can buy anything needed in the academics for very cheap price.
- The fees of the University is very low. It probably has the best ROI.
Dislikes
- It has nothing to provide in the name of college life.
- People openly smoke in the campus which is not good in my opinion.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The fees are the bare minimum. It's around 20000 for 4 years. Probably the lowest in the country. The hostel fee is 25 Rs. per month which too is very low. Even then it does provide concession for those who have family income of less than 2.5 lakhs. For them everything is free.

Which one should I choose between IIIT Allahabad IT and Jadavpur University CSE if I am interested in coding and research in computer science?
Both JU and IIIT-A have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. Here are a few strengths of each to help you determine which institution to finally opt for
- IIIT-A:
- IIIT-A is better than JU when it comes to coding. The students at IIIT-A are into coding all year round. Labs are open 24*7 and students are allocated a personal desktop with internet facilities for 4 years, 24*7 basis
- Core courses are introduced at IIIT-A in the first sem. This gives students extra time to prepare for GATE and placements
- Research facility at IIIT A is good enough. The professors are helpful and supportive towards the students who wish to engage in research work
- IIIT-A has a much better infrastructure than JU. It has world-class labs and all the facilities are top-notch
- The faculty at IIIT-A is very helpful and supportive
- In terms of placements, IIIT-A is the winner, with placements increasing exponentially each year
- Hostel facilities are excellent. It has a strong alumni base
- JU:
- JU provides the students with the freedom and the right mix of interdisciplinary research opportunities
- The faculty at JU is also very cooperative and supportive. The Research students are supported in every possible manner
- JU ranks at the 11th position in the NIRF India Rankings 2022: Engineering
- Being a public state university, the course fee at JU for a four-year B.E. CSE program is only 10,000 INR/year
Thus, both JU and IIIT-A are good options for you to consider.
B.E. CSE program at JU can be compared with B.Tech IT program at IIIT-A to reach the conclusion.
