- The placement of Nit Silchar is pretty good, offering good packages to students every year.
- Fests and events are organised on a huge scale. Dozens of events are organised in a single week.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is very poor. Since it's a govt college, infra structure needs to be improved, be it's hostels, classes or sports complex.
Course Curriculum Overview
Tbh the curriculum is pretty irrelevant to modern trends but you'll be equipped with real world applications skills. But the societies and clubs will help one to gain skills that are required for jobs. Exams are taken twice in a semester along with 2 minor tests and assignments.
Placement Experience
From third year, students are eligible for internships. And final year offer placements. Core companies as well all major IT companies visit the campus. The highest package offered is approx 1Cr. The percentage of getting placed is about 80% and my plans are to not pursue higher education
Fees and Financial Aid
For a complete year the academic fees to be paid is nearly ?147000 along with mess fees of 22500 where for reservation candidates only 11,000 need to be paid and 22500 for mess. All types of government scholarships as well as private scholarships can be availed.
Campus Life
Annual and technical fests like incandescense and tecnoesis are held every year along with some other flagship events. NITS have the biggest digital library in Asia and physical books are also available in abundance.One can access them through the library card issued. Some classrooms have projectos and some don't. Sports and extracurricular activities occur every week, one can participate in inter NIT events. Social clubs like gyansagar etc and technical clubs like gdsc etc are there ...also fun clubs are there
Hostel Facilities
The hostel comes with a table, bed , a chair, a ethernet connection and a wardrobe. The food is kinda avg compared to the stereotyped mess food. Registration happens twice every year and are way too affordable only 22500 per sem. Rooms can be rented inside the NIT as well as in the maintown silchar
Admission
Looking at me jee mains score i applied for many NITS like NIT Agartala, NIT warangal, IIIT delhi etc , but I got a better branch in this college. I needed a better jee mains score to apply to better NITS. Admission is done though purely jee mains, and eligibility is minimum 75% in boards.
Faculty
The faculties are avg to be precise. Some are way too helpful and some are very strict but are always approachable. The lab faculties will never hesitate to give you full marks in your lab exams. On an avg there are 5 written exams and 3/4 lab exams along with minor tests and vivas.
Night Life
There is a large gymnasium and 3 cafeterias inside the campus. Also natural beauty spots are there to hangout. There are 9 boys hostel and 4 girls hostel. There are 20+ lakes to roam around and it is completely safe at night
