Jalpaiguri government engineering college is the well-known college in West Bengal which is the second oldest college in this state. The alumni facility , placement opportunity , extra curricular activity is very good in this college. Approximately 75 to 80% students placed in the recent year. So it is a very good college for the BTech. Those students who want to learn create some new ideas in innovate their ideas this is the perfect college for them.

Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College provide 6 course in bachelor degree I.e civil engineering , mechanical engineering , electrical engineering , Information Technology , computer science engineering , electronics and communication engineering. And 2 course in master degree i.e electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. There are approximately 65-70 seats each and every department.

Yes , Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College provide internships in the college premises. As well as teachers send the students to the IITs and NITs based on their needs. They organised some workshops , training in the college.

Placements and job opportunities are very high. Every year approximately 75-80% students placed in the multi national company. Cognizant , TCS , IBM , ERRICSON , ROBERT BOSCH, MN Dastur , SPC etc many companies come in the college and recruit the students. Apart from that very startup companies also come and recruit. 3rd year students also get the chance to seat in the placement if they selected then they will got the internships under these companies with pre placement offer.

Fees structure is feasible for all the students. Fees of civil , mechanical , electrical department is very less. But in computer science , electronics and communication engineering , Information Technology department the fees structure is little large comparatively the core department but it is also feasible. There is a lots of scholarship programs in the college and most of the students got the scholarship. So there is no students who face the problem with the fee structure.

The extra curricular activity in Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is very good. Apart from this there are some inter and intra college competition like cricket competition , football competition , chess competition , volleyball competition. Every department have some labs which are very clean and well accommodate.

In Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College there are 5 hostels in which one is for the ladies hostel and the other four are for the boys hostel. The hostels are very clean and well furnished. There are one table , chair , one bed and one almirah for each and every student. Two or three students are allocated for one room. So the hotel facility is very good in this college.

Alumni of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is very good. There are approximately 7-8 or more teachers in each and every department. The teachers are very helpful and energetic. They are always encourage the students to create or modify some new ideas. Senior students are also very much helpful. There are lots of clubs in the college premises like coders club , ethical hacking club , robotics club , dance club , music club , photography club. Through this senior students teach the juniors to learn these things.

BTech is a four year course. So like every engineering college in Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College also conduct 2 semester in one year. And in 1 semester there will be two internal exam( every subject ) along with that practical exam in each and every subject and assignments.

First of all I attended in the West Bengal joint entrance exam. And got a rank then through online counseling I was selected in this College in information technology department. But there are also another chance for the students who are not selected by the online counseling i.e decentralised counseling. Which is organised every year after the online counseling.

The faculty is very good and helpful. Most of the teachers are well educated and they completed their study from IITs and well known Universities. They guide us in the right way. They encourage us to create something new or innovate new ideas. Every department have a lots of teacher as well as the supporting staff.
