Course Curriculum Overview

4

This is the best college in kerala for mechanical engineering. But the course is theoretical focused than the practical like all other engineering colleges in India. The exams are difficult and the evaluation is strict. There is exams every six months and special supply also helps students to clear their back paper

Internships Opportunities

5

CUSAT provides excellent internship opportunities through its strong industrial connections and collaborations with reputed companies. The placement cell actively assists students in securing internships, ensuring hands-on experience in their respective fields.Cochin shipyard is one of the leading ship building company and most of the students get internship there. Other companies like cochin port, refineries, hmt, apollo, kpcl, fact etc are very near and will get internship opportunity very easily with recommendation from the HOD. These are mostly without stipend. But with stipend internship also approaches the students. But the internship is chosen according to the type of company not based on the amount of stipend.

Placement Experience

4

From 7th semester the students are eligible for campus placements. Mechanical engineering have very few placement because most of the students prefer higher education however companies like TCS Reliance, Vedanta, Daikin, godrej, Tata consulting engineer, accenture, MRF, Adani etc visits for campus placements. But other courses like safety and fire technology have 100 percentage placement and the highest package is 21 lpa which almost 10 students have achieved out of 75 and average package is 7LPA. My plans after degree is taking an add on course and acquire more skills and then apply for jobs .

Fees and Financial Aid

There is two merits for fee structure All India merit and State merit. Students from Kerala is in state merit other states than Kerala is in All India merit and the remaining All India merit seats are also available for Kerala students. All India merit seat fees is allmost 1 lakh per annum . State merit fees is almost 55000 per annum. Which slightly varies semester vise and year wise. Fees are paid in semester vise. SC ,ST, OEC students doesn't have tuition fees, hostel fees and mess fee , they can study here for absolutely free. There is e grantz scholarship for other economic weaker section which can cover almost half of the fees they are paying. The quality of education, facilities and qualified faculties makes it worth the fee.

Campus Life

5

There is Medha which is an annual tech fest conducted by students union. And there is dhishna which is in holding now because of the stampede accident happened in 2023 Dhishna. The university library is available untill 11pm and it is well maintained and occupied. The university have gym, basketball court, stadium, synthetic track (on work). Volleyball court, badminton indoor court, Table tennis, boxing etc. There is plenty of student-run clubs like space up, igbc, tedx,IEEE, under 25 etc also there is track competition clubs which builds buggies, tractors ,go kart, Electric scooter etc which is run by students with faculty support and participates in several competitions.

Hostel Facilities

3

CUSAT provides decent hostel facilities with clean and well-maintained rooms for students. The hostel mess serves a variety of food options, catering to different dietary preferences, though there's room for improvement in taste and variety and is handled by students itself so the quality of food is very good. There is 6 girls hostel and 7 boys hostel. Hostel facilities are not enough to accommodate every students. However there is many private hostels and pgs available and almost every students will get college hostel at final year. Hostel admission is prioritiesed by distance and reservation.

Admission

I chose this college as first option because it is situated in the heart of the kochi city and the campus is huge and also it is a well reputed college. And I got admission here so I didn't given much effort to other college admission procedure. The admission procedure includes a seperate entrance exam called CAT test. Now the marine engineering admission is based on IMU result. The exams are little difficult but if you wait untill spot admission procedure you may get seat most probably

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is 1:15 approximately. The faculties are helping and supportive and the teaching is good and we can approach them for doubts even out of the curriculum. For Mechanical Engineering there is Dr Biju N, Dr Girish Thampi, Dr Tide, Dr saju , Dr Jayadas are the main faculties. The exams is semester vise and two internal exams decide internal mark . The exam is little bit tough than KTU and the evaluation is strict so the pass percentage is less however there facilities like special supplementary for immediate writing of the failed subject. The course curriculum updates every four years.

Night Life

4

Gym is open from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm and 5.30 am to 9.30 am . The hostel timings are till 11 pm. But you can go outside after than after writing in register. Kochi is the best city for nightlife and it is also safe city. There is pleanty of vibing spots like marine drive, fort kochi, vypin also so many varieties of food spots are located near this. Lulu mall which is one of the largest shopping mall in asia is situated 4 km away from the university Famous places like kfc, pizza hut, dominos

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
