Course Curriculum Overview

5

In mechanical engineering a student can choose carrier in to various domains so that I choosed this course for mu graduation. There different curriculum like theory classes, sessional class, minor and major projects and industry visits that prepares you for being an engineer in this fields. The teachings styles of new teachers are quite impressive and the old teachers are good enough but I think that they should also teach subjects in more mordern way. Every year there is two semester exams is been held and there is also a 3 monts gap for summer internships. so there is a almost 4-5 months gap between semesters. and there is two class tests for each subjects the gap is almost 1-2 months in between. the difficlulty level is good enough if you didn't follow the classes there is no way to pass the exams.

Internships Opportunities

5

The companies offered internships with stripened are ITC : 50,000 AB InBev : 40,000 PWC : 40,000 Forbes Marchall : 22,000 Hero Motocorp : 30,000 Relience SRFP : 10,000 more.... There are many projects a student can involve him in his 4 years journey. There is some projects continuing in different clubs, some students can persue projects under specific domain under specific professors. Also in third year one mandetory minor project have to be done under choosed professor this is also finalized through SGPA and preferance.

Placement Experience

5

From seventh semester students become eligible for campus placements. There are more than 50 companies visited every year for Mechanical placements. Some of those I now can remember is Catarpiller, ZS, Reliance, Bajaj, Airbus, Forbes Marshall, Cognizant, ITC, AB InBev, Hero Motocorp, more.. Highest package in this year is 26 LPA in core companies and average pacage is 10-12 LPA. Almost 90-98% students who applied for companies get placed. I got a summer internship in Forbes Marshall company. Afer that I definately choose a placement so that I can get a bump in my carrier and then I've desire to complete Masters Degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Compared to other collages in pan India JU's fees is much lower than any of well known NIT or IIT's. While admission we paid only 5000 for seat reservation and for collage it just a little bit more than 200 rupees. While I was in 3rd year There is a readmission process where for last two years ww neeed to pay 2400 rupees. Including everything the complete couse fees is 10,000 for 4 years UG Degree in Mechnical Engineering. For semester fees it is always under 100 for mechanical depertment and for supple exams this fees doesn't increase that much alays under 100 rupees. There is many scholership schemes are there in JU. Though my family income isnot more than 2 lack per year and no gov. employ is present in our family I recieved SVMCM every year which provides 60,000. Also some of my friends recievs ONGC, Siemens Scholerships and also our university provides Alumni and Freeships scholerships.

Campus Life

5

There are many events happening through the year. One is SRIJAN, our collage fest it's timing is almost in March-Aril. Also Trajectory'25, Mechanical Tech Fest, IEEE events, also many more. This year I perticipated in Indian Karting Race on behave of our club JU Motosports Clubs in Delhi. There are many journals available in the Central library, which is situated in the centre of our campus and avialable for all JU students. A annual sports competetion is held between all the engineering depertments is called UTURN. Many domain is there for students to perticipate here from Cricket Football to chess and Tenis every type of gener is there for depertmental perticipation. Also different innovative tech thimgs projects have been done in different clubs like Motosports clubs where Kart related things are done and Aerospace club, Ishrae Ju chaper is also there these types of clubs motivates students to learn and grow more besides studing.

Admission

I put JU at my first preferance. I finnaly got mechanical depertment. This collage have higher campus placement pacages than other collages and due to its on going lagacy and being in to tire one collages I've choosed this collage over any others I could have easily got into. No, I didn't get rejected from others collages I've applied. As far admission process goes, firstly there is a exam called WBJEE and you've to attempt and need to rank enough. And there is a Coice filling process where you need to fill choice accordingly in First coulcilling and then similerly in secend councilling you can change or edit your choices. Next If you got you'r preffered choice in Jadavpur University then you need to visit campus for admission process and after 21 days induction programme there is a decentralization process where you can get a scope to upgrade your depertment, Thats all.

Faculty

5

Faculty student ratio is good enough for maintaining every situations and events in department. I feel also the relationship between student and faculties is very good. They also helps to arrange the exams dates so that the students get time and benifits for results and internships in future. I personally liked HOD of our mechanical engineering, he helps in my difficult situations, also I felt that librarians are so good. There is none of the faculty that I really unliked but may be the VC should sometimes listen to students demands. There are eight main exams. If you've studied enough and have 15-25 marks in class test then you can pass easily. But for some exams it takes a much efforts to carry a pass marks. In design related subjects almost 40 students failed and in kinameticsthis number increses up to 60. The course curriculum is exactly perfect also there is some subjects which are extraordinary.

Interview Experience

4

For admission there was no GD, or interview round. Only by appering in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination and ranking enough got me in the Jadavpur University. You have to rank high enough to join in this university there no alternate process for engineering.

Night Life

5

I regulerly went to Gym. The timing is 4.30 PM- 9PM, Library timing is- 11Am to 2 Pm and then 3PM to 6PM, Though this is a open campus so public areaes are open till evening class end and furthur more. I've not exact idea bout hostels but in campus day class starts from 10AM and ends at 5.30 PM Famous hangouts places inside collage are Green Zone, Worls View or Open Theater, Ahar canteen, Milan da'r canteen, Art's Building, Jhil Par. Outside campus there is no such hangout places rather than 8b bus stand and Southcity mall.

Other Applied Colleges

Kalyani Government Engineering College - [KGEC] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering)

Because I thought that if I didn't rank good then I've to choose some tire 2 or 3 collages for engineeering. But in WBJEE I ranked enough so that I can persue my under graduate degree in Jadavpur University.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Regarding examination the frequency is generally acceptable but the timing sometimes overlaps with project submission, creating unnecessary pressure. Exam duration is of 3hrs They should focus more on building projects which can be helpful for students Labs are modern and well equipped In terms of teaching methods a shift towards interactive learning, problem based assignments, hackathons and collaborative projects could make the learning experience more impactful. More emphasis on research and innovation at the undergraduate level could also encourage academic pursuits.

The curriculum is pretty helpful and the additional competitions such as hackathons and codathons are really helpful. the frequency of the exam is consisteny the timing is provided when the academic calendar is out.
