A college more than a college

So the 1st year (1st sem + 2nd sem)subjects include subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths , English, EVS , Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronics, Programming introduction, Mechanics, Engineering graphics, Mechanical workshop and labs (physics , chemistry , electrical , electronics , programming). And from 2nd year the branch wise syllabus starts . College curriculum is old but also has subjects that are demanding in future. Exams levels are moderate to difficult and occurs frequently after some time.

NITS gives a good platform to the students to do internships with good companies . Maximum students of NIT Silchar get an opportunity to do internship . Many students do more than one intership and uplift their skills.

Campus placements are pretty good at Nit Silchar and some of the big companies like Amazon ,Google , Adobe, Mahindra etc. visit our college. In 2024 the highest package was 53 lpa with 13.5 lpa average (all branches )which was 80 lpa in 2023.

As a 2nd sem student I have paid 123000 fees in first sem and 96000 in 2nd sem which includes both tution fee+other fees of 100500 in 1st sem and 73500 in 2nd semester and hostel fee of 22500 per sem. All the below written fees are except hostel fees. Fees for different categories while admission in 1st sem are as follows: a)For SC/ST/PWD and Income below 1 lakh per year candidates ÷ 38000(zero tuition fee) b) Income between 1 to 5 lakh per year ÷58,833 c)Income above 5 lakh ÷ 100500 Fees for second sem: a)For SC/ST/PWD candidates and income below 1 lakh ÷11000 b) Income between 1 to 5 lakh ÷ 31,833 c)Income above 5 lakh. ÷ 73500 In rest semesters also ,fees are somewhat similar.

College has 2 big fests, which are Tecnoesis (Technical fest) and Incandescence .Other big events are also there which include Posua and etc. Campus Life is good and students get various events to explore their hidden talent.There are all sports facilities available from outdoor game like football , cricket etc .to indoor games like table tennis , badminton and etc.

NITS has 9 boys hostel and 3 girls hostel . Hostel's are good but sometimes the meal is not upto mark . Hostel's have different varieties of food day wise that mostly includes meals from different parts of the country. Registration of hostel takes place with admission or semester registration and the registration process is not much hectic.

I choosed this college as it has the prestigious tag of NIT and NIT Silchar takes 7th position across all NITs in India . It is the college of National Importance. To take admission in NIT Silchar one has to give JEE Exam and after qualifying jee mains a student can take admission through JOSAA and CSAB counselling.

So , Faculty to student ratio is not a big issue in our college and relationship between faculties and students is also good . Some of the faculty help students whenever students needs their help. So there are three forms of exams 1) Mid semester exam which consists of 30 marks. 2) Sessional exam which consists of 10 marks. 3) End semester exam which consists of 50 marks. And the rest 10 mark depends on attendance and other things like assignments and etc.

Night view of nit Silchar is way more beautiful than day . Student's those who want to develop their physical fitness can also go and hit gym as NITS got a gym which is open for everyone . NITS also has a cafe which operates from mon to sat . NITS has the World's Largest digital Library where a student can get each and every book that he/she needs for academics as well as for other purposes.
