Course Curriculum Overview

4

So the decision of choosing information science was that it is similar to Computer science and the fee structure is less compared to Computer science. The curriculum of information science and engineering sensitises students from third semester till the 8th semester. Here are some of the subjects from information science department: data science, computer network, oops with Java, Machine learning, mobile application development, digital marketing, C#, user interface design etc. Due to covid every semester is of 3 months..which becomes students to finish everything in that duration like the internal assessments, projects, assignment and also to study and complete their portion. My suggestion is to extend the semester duration from 3 months to 5 months atleast which becomes easy for students to study in depth. When it comes to exams, first of all they are charging 3500 rs as exam fees which is not good. This has to be changed. And the exam duration is of 3 hrs for both theory subjects and practical exams. When it comes to failed students, they can reappear the subject after the semester and the cost for it is 7500. And this scheme is called Fastrack. Or if you have any doubts with the teachers evaluation during exams you can apply for revaluation with a cost of 1000 rs and the cost of the photocopy of your evaluated answer booklet will be 1000 again. So as said earlier this college charges alot of money for every small thing. What are the advantages of choosing Information science branch: - one can achieve excellent standards of quality education by keeping pace with rapidly changing technologies and to create technical manpower of global standards with capabilities of accepting new challenges in information technology. - it will make a student and effective team player, team leader and excellent visionary and above all an independent person

Placement Experience

5

College placements in my college is really good. More than 100 companies had been to my college. So our placements starts from 6th sem onwards and it'll go on upto 8th sem end. For placement training we have to pay an amount of 12000 where the placement coordinators will teach us both aptitude, verbal communication and coding. So the cutoff cgpa for most of the companies are 6.00 cgpa and above with no active backlogs. And the average package is 4.5 lac So some of the companies which visited my college are: Visa- package 28.5 lac PA (1 girl got selected and this was the highest package) Healthasyst company- 5 LPA- 6 students selected Speridian technologies - 3.5 LPA- 11 students selected IDFC first bank- 10LPA- 1 student selected Netradyne- 9.6 LPA- 6 students selected Leadsqured -7.5 LPA- 7 students ( I am one of them) Capgemini - 4.5 LPA- 30 students selected Epicore- 9.2 lpa- 4 students Nokia- 9 Lpa- 8 students Crimson logic - 5 LPA- 6 students Cubic logic - 4 LPA- 7 students Epsilon - 5LPA- 8 students selected Etc So the overall no of final year students are around 1200 approx..out of which 1000 had applied for placements and 200 had opted out of placements due to higher studies. So out of 1000 students nearly 600-700 students were placed. When it comes to me. Im already placed in Leadsqured with a package of 7.5 lac PA.

Fees and Financial Aid

So i had choosen BE for the branch of Information science and engineering at New horizon college of engineering.I had gone through the management seat and The Fee structure for Information science in 2020 was 4.5 lac as donation for the first year and 2.5 lac as the actual fees for 2nd,3rd and 4th year. My mom had talked to the Admission department before doing our registration there. She requested and pleaded them to reduce the donation amount from 4.5 lac to 3.5 lac. So i paid 3.5 lac for the first year. When it comes to Computer science branch, the first year donation was 7.5 lac in the year 2020 and 2.5 lac fees for the 2nd,3rd,4th year. Coming to the scholarship fees, we had 2 scholarship in the 1st year for OBC category. But since I didn't apply for it I have no idea about it. Coming to other fees like exam registration fees..for every semester it was 2500 rs including the lab fees which was supposed to be paid before collecting the hall ticket. The exam fees was increased after 4 semesters, which was 3500 per semester. Exam fees has to be paid online itself and no cash will be accepted. Coming to the fees of my batchmates, who had joined through KCET results, they had to pay 1.5 lac every year. Apart from that for placements we had to pay 12000 for the placement training in our 6th semester. And once we are placed we have to pay 2.1% of our CTC.

Campus Life

Overall it was a wonderful experience..when it comes to college fests we had 2 fests which are Sargam ( the main one ) and Revolution. So sargam is the main fest of our college and it usually held in November or December. And revolution is the summer fest which is held in June or July. So big celebrities like Baadshah and Dhvani Bhanushali had been to our Sargam fest on the day of Dj. Many other local DJs were called. Even Lost stories were called to our college. And these fests are only for the college students and no outsiders are allowed. Coming to tech fests we have QuantumX fest which will be held in January. it's a technical fest. Along with that we also celebrate independence day, republic day and diwali night. And also we have many hackathons for students to participate. So we have different clubs like Leo club, literary club, dance club, acting club, fashion club etc who organises various events. Auditions will be held every year for students to join the club. There will also be blood donation camps and when participated in it will gain you some activity points. By the End of the engineering every student must have an activity point of 100 and they have to submit the proofs of it to their respective teachers in the final year as it will be going to the VTU. Every 10 students will be assigned a teacher who will monitor their performance individually and also take care of their personal matters. Coming to class rooms facilities, all the teachers teach through the smart board only. Black board is used only when some explanation is required. Classrooms are big and spacious. Which can accomodate more than 80 students. Coming to sports we have various games like BB, badminton, Football, tug of war, and Kho kho and chess too... We have a separate indoor court for indoor games. NHCE also has a Gym , Xerox shop, stationery shop, canteens, medical room, girls room, boys and girls hostels everything inside the college campus.

Admission

The only reason which I chose this college over other colleges is because of placement. This college is located in Marathahalli and has is surrounded by companies around. This college assures 100% placement facilities to students both technical and non technical roles. Secondly this college is in Marathahalli and can be easily commuted by bus, 500D or 500A buses can be taken from Hebbal which goes towards silk board. When compared to other colleges the pricing structure is abit High and also charge for small things as mentioned earlier, but otherwise it's a great campus with alot of huge facilities. There are various clubs in our college which organises technical event and gifts will be awarto the winners of the event. We have various branches in for engineering like: information science and engineering Computer science Electric communication Electrical and Electronic Mechanical engineering Civil engineering Auto mobile engineering Artificial intelligence Computer engineering There is also a degree block for Bcom and BBA students. And masters too for MCA and MBA. When compared to other colleges, first of all I didn't apply to other colleges because New horizon college was the only college which I chose for the management seat and I got in it. Admission process: for information science department for the first year it was 4.5 lac and for 2nd, 3rd,4th year it was 2.5 lac per year. There is no eligibility for Management seat. But there is some cut off for Kcet students who's ranking in KCEt exam should be within 15-20k to get information science branch. So to join any engineering college only KCET ranking will be accepted if you don't wanna go through management. Admission process is first we had spoken to the admission department, her name was Arpita Nandi. It was through her where i could reduce my donation fee from 4.5 to 3.5 lac. So the fees ,there will be a deadline before which the fees has to be paid else 50rs fine will be charged for each day

Faculty

So the students to teachers ratio is 60:1 for one class. And when it comes to the department , my department was information science and the students in it were approximately 230. And the teachers were 30 in total. The faculty interaction with the students was average. Only the first few benchers were the students who mainly interacted with the teachers others were ignored. The teachers which I liked the most are Rajalakshmi Mam as she was very friendly with us and with everyone. She never scolds anyone and she gives good marks to everyone. The teacher i hate the most is Divya ma'am, as she only taught boys and girls were ignored in her class. So when it comes to exams the exams were easy. It was all from the given PDFs by the teachers. It all depends on the students on how they study. Sometimes when it comes to coding subjects, the questions asked were abit twisted which most of them failed to answer them correctly. Per semester we had around 5-6 subjects and 2-3 labs. The labs were taken care by the subject faculty itself and during exams the externals were coming to our college to evaluate us . Apart from the courses we also had a mini project every semester which was supposed to be done by a team of 2. And in the final year we had Major project instead of Mini project which was done by team of 4. When it comes to failed students. Every semester there would be atleast 7-8 students who would have failed that particular subject. And overall the teachers have to be more approachable to students and have to be more friendly. Experienced teachers are required as the teachers currently working there are not that experienced and need more teaching training. Their communication skills are also average.

Interview Experience

5

There were no Group Discussion or interview or written test for the admission as I'm a management student and I got direct admission for the college. Even for Kcet students they just have to go through the councelling and after that it's just the Direct admission

Night Life

5

So there are 2-3 food stalls near the college where usually students go to smoke. Opposite to our college is the wells Fargo company. Inside our college we have many canteens like Munch, Udupi, tango, Nescafe cafeteria. My favourite place to hangout is Near the Pani puri stall which has a ghost rider idol behind it. And right behind it is the basketball court. So me and my friends would always hangout there eating Pani puri and watching the basketball match. Right beside the Udupi canteen is the Gym are which is separate for both boys and girls. So usually after classes most of them will hangout in the canteens chilling with their friends having their favourite food like pani puri, dahi Puri, there are non veg counters too. The boys hostel building is separate from the girls hostel building and i have no idea about the hostel timings so I won't give any wrong info here. Famous places to hangout near clg are cream stone, Meghana biryani, Centro mall. Etc

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 4th year as placement training occurs in 3rd year(6th semester). There are multiple companies like Infosys, Oracle, ABC, HP, Adobe and many other companies that visit our college for placements. The highest package was 56 LPA and the placement percentage is about 80 to 95% so there is a strong chance of placement in RNSIT.

Placements in our college are pretty good with the average package being around 10 lakhs. Our college provides comprehensive training to prepare us for placments by conducting training over 2 months for both technical rounds as well as non-technical aptitude rounds. Mock interviews are conducted in order to prepare us for the real interviews.

Regarding placements , students are eligible from third sem for IT branches and 6th sem for non IT branches based on how they develop their skills. There is also a memorandum of understanding or m o u with different companies by our college which encourages internships but basically we have to skill up ourselves which the IT branch students can easily do . Core branch students are eligible from 6th semester as their skills are not developed because there the subjects are more and the concept building wouldn't have happened till 6th sem. Hence we are eligible from 6th semester. This time the placements are really good core branches have got the highest placements in triple e that is electrical and electronics engineering out of 90 students 86 students have been placed which is setting a record in the college placement history for IT branches though the packages not as much as 40 LPA, a package would range from 3 to 15 lpa by companies like thought works Infosys LTTS etc. I have my future plan is to get placed in a good company work there for few years to gain professional experience and do my masters.

Placements of our college was an average because our college is located in rural area and companies were not ready to come to that rural place but our placement officer used to try very hard in order to help students and get placed in well company. During the last year i.e, 7th semester palcements used to come and depending on our eligibilty we attented the interviews. My plans after the degree completion was to do software courses and join in software company because i did electrical and eletronics engineering.

Placement Experience:

Placements at RNSIT are decent and consistent, especially for CS-related branches. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. The placement cell conducts training programs including aptitude tests, coding practice, mock interviews, and soft skills sessions to prepare students. Many reputed companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, and some product-based companies visit the campus. The highest package in recent years has gone above 20 LPA (mostly for CS/IT related roles), while the average package ranges between 4–6 LPA depending on the branch. Most offers are for roles like Software Developer, System Engineer, Analyst, and Associate Engineer.
