Review: The NIT Silchar

NIT Silchar offers many courses at the UG and PG level along with PHD. For the B.Tech (UG) the college offers 6 courses e.g. Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Elecreonics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanial Engineering. In the 1st year all students have to read same subjects. During 2nd and 3rd year, the stubjects related to the course are taught. During a semister each subject carries 100 marks the are devided as: For theory subjects, 30 marks for Mid-Sem exam, 10 marks for Minor test, 10 marks for Assignments/ Class Test/ Attendence (depends on proffesor) and 50 marks for End-Sem exam.

Internships are : Satyendra Nath Bose Summer Internship Program Digital India Internship Scheme Industry Internship: Recruting companies like Tata, Amazon, TCS, Infosys etc.

NIT Silchar offers campus placements with average package aroung 13 LPA. During 2024 the heighest package offered was INR 52.89 LPA, the median package was INR 10 LPA and the average package was INR 13.57 LPA. More then 600 offers were made and around 200 companies visited the campus.

Except the Tuition fee per semister generally we have to pay around 11000 (Different types of college fees like admission, library, transport, madical, sport, hostel seat rent, light and water fee etc.) and 22500 as Mess fee for all sudents of different categories. The college supports different types of scholarships like Scholarships from NSP, Bharti Airtel Scholarship etc. And also there is an SBI branch inside the college campus from where one can apply for educaiton loan.

Amidst the natural beauty of Assam, National Institute of Technology, Silchar has a vast campus around 600 acres. The greenary and the lakes enhence the scenic beauty of the campus. There are several clubs like coding club, music club, drama club, Dance club, photography club, literary club, robotic club along with NCC, NSS, Gyansagar, E-cell etc. Also there are football ground, cricket ground, Indor Sports complex, Student Activity Center, Gym, Start-up center etc. There is a central library which is the 2nd largest digitel library of Asia. Also there helds an annual technical festival 'Technosis' and cultual fest 'Incandescence' and Assamese cultural fest like 'Posua' and Bangali fest 'Oikyotan' etc.

The institute has eight boys' hostels and three girls hostel with and additonal under the construction. Rooms are available on single, double and triplr sharing bases. First-year students are tyipically allocated separate hostels. Each room is furnished with essential amenities including bed, study-table, chair, light, fan etc. The hostels are equiped with 24/7 water supply and reliable electricity. High speed internet through LAN is also provided. Each hostel has an attached mess that serves average food.

NIT Silchar holds 9th rank among all NIT's and NIRF ranking 40th in the Engineering category. It has a beautiful campus. I chose this college for my personal resion. The college is fulfill the above conditions and it is the closest to my home town.

The faculity members of NIT Silchar is generally regarded as good. They often holds an PHD and expert in their respective fields. Although there are some good and supportive faculities students typically appreciate the facultie's engagement in teaching and their willingness to assist with academic and research related quaries.

NIT Silchar offers a vibrent campus life with varius student clubs and events that contributes to its nightlife. The dance club, knowing as Aaveg, is particularely active, organizing performences and events that engage students in lively activities. The institute also hosts DJ night and cultural festivals, providing students with opertunities to socialise and enjoy dance and music.
