What Students Say?
Likes
- Not very strict in academic matters. Students have anough freedom as needed.
- Campus is close to city and open at all times.
Dislikes
- The girl to boy ratio is quite low it is more in some departments but mostly there are more boys in each class.
- Extra academic activites are not there. Most events are just same thing repeated and clubs and other hobby groups aren't there.
Course Curriculum Overview
The information technology department has a veryodern and updated syllabus. It has topics related to most emerging concepts including AI and machine learning technology. It is better than computer science in my opinion and more updated than what other colleges have. The exams are easy if you have prepared enough and didn't slack off.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placement from semester 6. Many of the largest companies such as Cisco, IBM, Wipro etc come for placements. The largest package was 40 LPA from IT department and average package is 6 LPA. Last year's batch had placement percentage of 90%. My future plans are to try my best for placements, no plans for suture studies as of now.
Fees and Financial Aid
I pay 56000 per year in fees which is the fees for students in state merit category. All india category comes to around 90000 and NRI category is 1.2 lakhs. There are scholarships available mostly on the basis of reservations not merit.
Campus Life
We have annual tech festival called dhishna every year. It is one of the biggest college hel teck fests in south india. the library facilities are very good. Extracurricular activities are very lacking and there are no hobby groups other than a few student clubs. Political parties are a very big part of student life in cusat. There are frequent strikes and also fights between the parties but also student affairs are well looked after by them.
Admission
I applied in KEAM and had admission to Christ college Bangalore but the fees were too high. I also got admission to Muthooth institute of science and technology and mar athanasius college kothamangalam. Out of these I chose cusat because I heard that it has better recognition than colleges under KTU and that college life here is better. I don't know if the recognition part is true but college life is definitely better here.
Faculty
Faculty is approachable and well experienced. Although they don't force you to study if you show initiative they will see it. There is no spoon-feeding at all and a lot of students rely more on self study. There are 2 internal exams, 2 lab exams and one semester exam per sem. 40 marks for internals and 60 for semester exams. Both combined you need above 50 to pass.
Night Life
Must college run facilities are closed after 9 pm but the campus is open to public and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and tea shops open around campus all night. The area is quite safe as there are people around all the time. Mens hostels have no curfew and girls hostels close et 11 pm. The college area is extremely active during the night and mostly safe for girls.
