Course Curriculum Overview

4

Electronics is the future and my university has a well known syllabus structure and curriculum which is very updated as per industry standards and relevance which is instrumental having our alumni working at Google and other well known companies. With up to date laboratory equipment it makes it real life and proper application based studies. There are weekly exams which makes it best for proper assessment and are quite interesting in nature.

Internships Opportunities

5

Interns are selected at the end of third year and they provide on campus opportunities for internships as well, like research assistants, Teaching assistant, lab assists, etc. Paid Internships are offered, but in limited quantity for students in CSE, ECE, EE mostly. Companies like Tagmango, Microsoft, and Deloitee come mostly for interview.

Placement Experience

5

The college has a very professional Training and Placement committee. Companies like TCS, Capgemini, Accenture, Wipro visit the college for placement. My department (ECE) has an average of 7LPA. Last year the highest pakage was 85 LPA which was secured by one of our esteemed seniors in JP Morgan Chase. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon also visit our college for placements. The only disadvantage is maximum of these companies are visiting for mass recruit profiles. I plan to go for an MS in USA after securing my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 10,727/- per year in my college. This includes tuition fees, admission fees and all other relevant fees. The library fees and development fees, along with laboratory fees are around 2000 rupees which is well included in this structure. For hostel, there is no living cost, just the food expenditure which is 2000 rupees a month. They have a hygienic and well defined food menu. There are scholarships such as SVMCM and MCM scholarships. However there are also scholarships offered by external companies based on the overall merit of the student.

Campus Life

3

The annual fest is Espektro which is one of the largest fest in West Bengal. It is held for 3 days typically in the month of February. There are a lot of good books in the library. Our college library hosts more than 50000 books, 2000 journals and newsletters. The classrooms are well illuminated and have projectors for ppt presentation. Extracurriculur sports events are regularly held in our college like cricket, footballs, etc. There are clubs for each and everything, like GDSC KGEC, MLSA, Sportix-The Sports club, Litmus-The Literature Club, Infinitio-The mathematics Club, etc where students can participate and fulfill their hobbies at the same time.

Admission

I had an offer from JU for Food and Biochemical department. However the relevancy and future prospects of Electronics and Communication engineering makes it one of the best course to study. Being the second best in West Bengal State govt. run Universities it is one of the best choices I have made. I would have made it to Jadavpur University Power Engineering dept. if there was not a rank inflation phenomena this year, but later on I realised i am at a better position here. The admission to my college is only and solely through WBJEE and WBJELET exam. For General category students it must be 55% aggregate taken total in PCM in their 12th.

Faculty

5

The student to faculty ratio is 35:1, yet the faculty is very approachable and are very welcoming towards students. They teach us with proper doubt clearance facility and have a good knowledge about modern industry pattersna dn teach us accordingly. Uttam Sir is my personal favourite who is currently the HOD of my department. The other best faculties include the mathematics department and Electrical dept. The examinations are a bit on the moderate side and need proper preparation throughout the year for good cgpa score, yet there are proper book in our library for preparation.

Interview Experience

5

There are no such GD or PI. They call you for document verification and thats it. Basic questions like place of residence and future plans are discussed as much. There isn't much need for formal preparation in them.

Night Life

5

There are gyms, cafeterias, and there are many parks around where students can relax and spend their free time. There are tea and coffee shops around as well for students to binge and brainstorm ideas. Boys hostel has an intime of 10pm, whereas girls hostel has an intime of 7:30pm. Campus remains open 24*7. It is very safe for females even at the deepest nights, there are practically zero crimes around.

Placement Experience:

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft. The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles, finance in some cases. The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.
