Remarks

The negative things are many. In fact, there is always a scarcity of funds for all IISERs. So, it, directly and indirectly, affects your daily issues. One may face many problems due to this. It's a pity that the government is ignoring research in science, that too in premier institutions like ours.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum has been designed for budding scientists. In the first two years, one has to study PCMB, all four of them. This is indeed difficult. Exams are a bit challenging, the good part is the relative merit.

Placement Experience

3.5

Since ours is a research institute, we do not have any placements and job opportunities or any such thing things. But we do provide internship s. The individual faculty must be contacted for summer internships.

College Events

4.5

Insomnia is our college annual fest which is the largest and most awaited event. We have large colorful events like Onam, Vasant Panchami, Lohri, Ganesh Chaturthi, that reveal our Pan-Indian nature. The campus living is not matched with any other institute.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's feasible. Not very expensive. I think the lower class may not afford it. It is similar to the fee structure of IITs, and the reputation too. But, since the cost of living in Chandigarh is a bit high, it may cost you a lot if you decide to enjoy city life.

Fees and Financial Aid

The students can avail two types of scholarships, one from the Kvpy and the other, from Inspire i.e DST. You have to meet some criteria to be eligible for them. There is no scholarship from the Institute.

Campus Life

5

Labs are well designed and maintained. There are many Sports and extracurricular activities and they help in the holistic development of the students. There are many clubs for academics as well as hobbies.

Hostel Facilities

2

The hostel is compulsory for all the students. The infrastructure is excellent. The facilities are okay. Rooms are small and are meant to be double. And there is so much uncertainty about when one gets a single room. Food is bad, and especially if you are from the South, get ready to lose your interest in food.

Alumni/Alumna

The college's alumni network is good. There is no ragging at all. In fact, the seniors are very helpful and we live in harmony. That is the specialty of the IISERs, in fact. Seniors help you in various ways and guide you through the social, academic and personal life too.

Faculty

3.5

Since I'm in the first year, I've come across very few professors. But all of them are really good. Some have enormous knowledge but may fail in delivering it to the students. They are superb researchers.

Placement Experience:

On a serious note, if you choose this course, you cannot expect employment opportunities after graduation. You have to do a master's and then you can think of a lectureship or a laboratory assistant. For higher studies, you can pursue a PhD and go in the research field. But the course is not as easy as it seems, the path is very struggling and often you face failure. After the recent NMC update, the non-medical teaching staffs are limited which makes the pursuing of this course very questionable. but there are alternative course and job opportunities after graduation in other life sciences subjects. Rest, the college doesn't provide any internship in this course. You are entirely on your own risk and decisions when you enrol for this course.

There is gender discrimination, restrictions based on gender and most important dressing of girls and thinking of management is narrow minded. Good thing is campus life is very good. Campus is fun based and great enjoyment and building is like a palace.
