Remarks

The fact that you are able to decide your major is important if you wish to pursue research in a particular field of one of the sciences (physics, chemistry or biology), or mathematics, but if you are interested in interdisciplinary research, no major system of mohali is better.

Course Curriculum Overview

Well IISER Mohali have Excellent Faculties, but if you are asking for best, it is very difficult to judge. Because I have completed only one year here so, I can only say about those teachers who taught us. Actually all of the faculty who taught us was best but some exceed than best.

Placement Experience

It’s a huge misconception that Research oriented people do not earn more. you are talking of a class of people who are much more educated and professional than the majority. They know everything, and even can pick any engineering stream and master it because they have nothing new to learn to set up their base. Iisers are not meant for placements.

College Events

Personally, I find the brick lined architecture amazing. You don't need to worry about paint going black or plaster falling off. It looks pristine all the time no matter whenever you look. And let me tell you another fact worth mentioning here. IISER Mohali is a biodiversity hotspot.

Hostel Facilities

Among all the public funded institutes in India, I can say with a sense of pride and satisfaction that IISER Mohali has one of the most comfortable and beautiful hostels. All of us had single rooms for entire period of 5 years (except for the first few months when we had not shifted to our permanent campus in 2010).

Remarks:

Faculty: Teacher are highly efficient, all of them are from a great background. But teaching quality is something which varies from person to person. The course curriculum is very good but the semester time period is less so kind of little difficult and more semester stress. Placements: People find it on their own, and they go for Higher Studies like PhD and Post Doc etc. Infrastructure: Co-ed Hostel with full Wi-Fi support and for the first 2 years two students live together in single room and from 3rd year onwards they get separate single room. Mess system available, 3 mess you can eat in any of them on pay and eat basis. Health center is there, all the sports facilites and gym is also there.

Remarks:

No doubt IHM Bathinda is one the best college in terms of hotel management and also of the province of Punjab. One should be fortunate enough if he/she gets in here and get the preferred choice, rest all of us are polished by the college itself. Our college management is too strict about following the rules but ultimately it is good for the students. Faculty and environment you are getting in the college are also good for studies creating competitiveness among students.

Student life at IISER Mohali

I chose this college over the other colleges that I applied to, because it is a national level institute that is excellent in academics, and a boon for people who want to do research. Also, it was nearest to my home than the other colleges. The admission process of IISER Mohali is through 3 channels - JEE-Advanced channel, KVPY channel and IAT channel. Most of the students come through the IAT channel, in which there is a computer based test consisting of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Then according to the students' marks, the merit list is prepared after which the counseling process takes place jointly for all the IISERs in the country. For the detailed cutoffs, you can visit the website of iiser admission. The overall admission experience was pretty good. Apart from IISER, I had applied for PAU Ludhiana BSc Hons Agriculture and PGI Chandigarh Nursing and Paramedical.
